They did it to pickup mid range power.

Shorten to increase top-end but sacrifice mid range. I'd guess if you shortened them you'd not like the result for trail use.

interesting...I didnt know that...Knew about the header mods but didnt know intakes affected midrange

Don't waist your time with the intake runners. If you want RPM on a 11+ you need to add fuel above 80% throttle with good 91 octane fuel. BTW, your bottom pic has the 11 box on the right, notice the intake side is shorter.

nope, the 11 on the Left in both pixs....the intakes are longer on both sides....notice the sloppy glue they used back then

(also I'm leaving it stock...I was just passing on the info ;)! )

I believe sx7001 is right. Look at the clips that hold the lid on (gold vs silver). Looks like the they are switched from side to side between the two pics. The box on the right in the bottom pic looks like the one on my 12.

06-10 Apex does not have the rubber hose sticking up between the two boots.

I still don't know why they didn't use the adjustable velocity stacks from the 07-08 r1. Long runners down low then snap open to short runners for upper rpm. When those things snapped open on my r1 it was like a 2s hitting the powerband.

What? Tell me more how this works
