2011 Apex Donuts lasted 10,750 miles

Well it happened this weekend....Full throttle let off the gas...Pop!! Backfire. Noticed it was a little loud last weekend so I picked up a set of donuts...Good thing as they where bad. Replaced them in two hours...Much easier than my 2006. Took off the clamps..removed the front bolts holding the EXUP/pipe. Loosened the center bolts. Removed the bolts holding the muffler. Slid everything back...plenty of room to remove the old ones and slide in the new ones. Glad to see they lasted ~3 times as long as my 2006 (every 3500 mi) and so much easier to change than my 06. I hope I get another 10,000 miles out of this set.

Just replaced mine last week and it had 8000km. This is my first 4-stroke so now that i know i will check these every chance i get to make sure the clamps do not get loose. i filed the spacer just a bit so that they are nice and tight when i reinstalled the new gaskets.

Just did mine as well at 5000 miles 2011 apex SE. They were still in good shape I'm sure I could have run them another 2-3000 miles but changed them anyway as I already had it apart. My nytro was harder to do and I was changing them every 1500-2000 miles what a pain. It really was easy on the Apex.

15000kms on mine at the end of this season and no noise yet. Will do this summer anyway as it's probably time. My 2006 ER donuts were pretty much done (but not yet noisy) @ 12,000kms so maybe not as much difference as we think. Glad to hear it's easier!!!

Mileage on the donuts is directly related to how you drive. If your a pinned on and off the throttle all day rider (flexing the system) its going to wear faster. If you just cruise around, it will last a lot longer. I have a 06GT with 18000k on it, driven like a pussy and never touched. The 11+ sleds will last longer and are sooooooo much easier to service, but will still wear out and can cost big $$$ to fix. My 12 with 4500k is getting new nuts and clamps this summer. Just because its that easy.....
