Any info out there on gas consumption on the 2011 Apex.
Trail riding my 06 in decent conditions I get about 13.2 to a US Gallon or 16 to a Canadian gallon.
Smaller tank, I am getting down there in range.

Haven't heard any MPG reports yet, you would hope that it will be a little better since they shrunk the tank! I don't understand why they have to do that. If you don't want a lot of weight , just don't fill it all the way up. I think they should make them bigger if anything. A 12.5 or 15 gal tank would really be nice for all the long distance trail riders. There's nothing worse than being out in the middle of now where and getting low or running out of fuel.

Down a litre to 34.6 litres from 35.6 litres for 2011. [9.2 US Gallons]
2006 and 2007 Apex's were around 38 litres as I recall. [10 US gallons]

If you go to the Yamaha blog and read the details on the APEX world record 24 hour run, there is enough info there to calculate the average miles per gallon. I came up with just under 12mpg but considering the high rate of speed he was running, this is a good sign that we will get decent mileage at normal trail speeds.

in 2008 the epa made yamaha put a doublewall fuel tank in the apex's because of fear the heat from the exhaust could be an issue. that why the tank is a little smaller.

Using the same info. as NH_Sledder I came up with about 85 to 95 miles range before the low fuel light and you start to worry. This is the main reason I will not be ordering one.
We make a lots of rides in the 125 to 140 mile range where finding fuel would be a problem.
One of our last trips this year was 141 miles, our tanks are 39 litres and I took 31 with the low fuel coming on 1/2 mile from home and my wifes sled took 28 litres. Speeds were around 50 mph with a couple of runs up to 80.
I'll be waiting for an 2012 Vector, hopefully in an xtx.

Yep, you need the new Vector. The local Yamaha rep runs a 2010 prototype Vector GT and he gets 24 mpg [Canuck gallon] riding it at about 6/10 th's.
I'm guessing by the miles you and your wife got on your last trip on the Rages that you will exceed that easily.
You will love that new 1050 Fuelie. I was really impressed with it relative to my wifes 2007 Vector GT. Very impressive sled. Gobs of torque and great handling. I probably should have ordered one instead of the Apex SE but could not bring myself to give up that 25 hp.

Good link NH. Thanks.
I had read that before and had come up with the same #'s as you.
Pretty respectable for that kind of speed.
I was hoping someone would know the # for a more normalized trail ride.
I'm guessing they will be around a 105 mile sled on average whereas my o6 was a 120 mile sled on average.
There will be days I will miss that last 15 miles.

I'm a little comcerned that increased ski pressure will reduce the mileage a bit. Hope not, right now I get to about 100 miles before the light comes on, hate to have it less than that.
