Hindle will be doing a complete header/muffler for the 2011 Apex...should be done in 2 weeks time. They will be eliminating the EXUP from what I'm told...and despite what some will say..they have been doing away with it on the bikes since it came out, and have had great success in doing so.

This will be an interesting debate....
Not this again. :o|

If anyone is interested... Hindle coming

I have a PCV unit here for the 2011 Apex that we will set the Auto Tune kit up on a 2011 Apex and see if there is any improvements to be made over stock. Then we will test exhausts, etc.
Very cool Spenc I know in the streetbike world there are many gains to be had w/PC-v and have heard nothing but good on the autotune should be interesting to see.

I hope all you exhaust manufacturers take a good hard look at redesigning the whole airbox for your exhaust since the airbox and particularly the "velocity stacks" are made to match the stock exhaust and EXUP!

Good luck :drink:

D&D in Lowville NY. Spoke to Dan at the Syracuse snow show. He told me it will have a vartiable noise control, either linked to the EXUP or manually adjustable from a lever, sort of like the old choke lever. They did not have one there to look at so I don't know any more than that..
Interesting I though for a minute since Hindle (streetbike Exhaust company) were jumping into this that we might have D&D (streetbike pipe maker out of Texas) as well. I had a D&D slip-on pipe on my 2002 GSXR 1000 that sounded wicked. Pipe would make people's heads whip around so fast when I went by I thought they would get whiplash!!

Hindle has a great rep in the streetbike world and have good gains with their systems. I imagine it will need a fuel controller to run right PCIII perhaps? Would be sweet if they do a bung welded on option for an o2 sensor to adapt a PC-V with autotune feature. Have not heard of anyone using this on a sled yet I imagine it would be awesome to do some on the go tuning for temp/barro changes.

"A GREAT REP IN THE STEETBIKE WORLD" and this claim is supposed to mean something? ;):D :drink:

The only reason "H" is getting into the snowmobile market is because "H"'s monopoly up here in Canada in the Superbike series which he used to sponser forcing everybody to use his exhaust ended years ago. ;)!

I meant that their product has a great reputation. I don't live in Canada so I have no knowledge about the workings and dealings of the company.
I owned a 1999 R1 with their highmount pipe that was awesome, good quality, nice sound and seemed to make good power. Freinds that I rode with or people who I talked to at trackdays that owned "H"said the same.

As far as knowing what goes on in the company as far as sponsorship deals, monopolies, ect. I had no idea.

Just thought I would give everyone a little back ground, since I have been involved in bike racing in Canada since Lang Hindle himself was Superbike champ, were talking 80's to present. There product is good unless you can afford to buy something better like a Yoshimura,Akrapovic,Leo Divinci the unfortunate thing is the latter manufacturer's don't make much in the snow dept.

The major problem will be matching the specificly tuned airbox and stacks of the 2011 Apex to the aftermarket exhaust, which was intended to work with the stock 4 into 1 EXUP exhaust manufactured by Yamaha.

Understood. Would love if Yosh, Akra, Leo Vince (Leonardo Da Vinci? ;):D :drink: )would do something. My Yoshimura carbon TRC is great I would love one for the 'PEX!!

My experience with racing R1's. Mine was a 03 and my friend had the 02. Both R1's, both identical. I left the exup and added an acro. My buddy went complete system hindle I believe. Roll on at 4000 rpm I walked away. He added cam's power commander and airbox mods. Another roll on at 4000 rpm and I still walked away. From 8000 rpm and up he slowly took me. I was 20 pounds heavier. He dyno'd 150hp and I did 139hp.

Now that said I kept the exup because I still did a lot of street riding. Nice to have the jam at 4000 rpm when your in traffic and trying not to make a lot of noise to draw attention to yourself. The fact that sleds have a variable clutch and pinning the throttle pins the rev's I have to wonder if losing mid range will be as noticeable on a sled then a bike with a gear tranny.

Time will tell.
