gas weighs 6.1 lbs/US Gallon
gas weight 7.3 lbs/ imperial gallon

144 studs weigh 10 lbs (Guess)

Your guess was right on the money. Just weighed 144 Woody's Gold Diggers,, size 1.325 for 11/4" track, and the round backkers, with the mid size nuts .500, 10 #. ;)!

Holy Shiite!!!!!!!!

My 07 Attak weighed in at 666 pounds stock; kinda devilishly heavy, don't ya think?

Certainly Yamaha removed some weight from the new girl, don't ya think?

I bet on the scale now my sled would be about 20 pounds lighter than stock......

:moon: :tg: ;)!

Where and how would Yamaha have removed weight from the new sled?

No where on the machine is any piece lighter than the previous sled other than the Fox float shocks. They added weight to it with the power steering and EXUP valves.

If you want a lighter sled, buy one. If you want power steering and a dead reliable sweet 4 cylinder than buy the Apex. It is not one of the lighter machines on the market, in fact its going to be in the top three for heavyweights. Just ride it and smile for 300 miles per day! If I didn't have my XR1200 Renegade, this would be my next choice. I think I'd have to have the long track XTX if they could make it ride good like the Float equipped machine.

Knapp: I was responding to the remark the new sled was 600 lbs., weighed in his truck. I am trusting his numbers. 600 is lighter than 666, right?

The Floats are lighter than coil overs, but I don't think he bought the SE, so his dies not have Floats. My Attak does have Float 2's, which is one area I dropped a slight amount of weight.

I think they did take some weight off it, at least I believe they said they were. One are was skis for sure and one area was the frame was drilled out......

Mike, that weight, is your sled FULL OF GAS & OIL, and ready to ride.
Subtract 10 gallons of gas, 3 1/2 quarts, and how ever much anti freeze is in the engine, and thats what the sled would way dry, and it also gives what Yamaha is calling the dry weight.

Nick

Mr. Duncan: I got the 666 pounds from the Max sled article -- full of gas, oil, etc. I've never actually weighed my own sled! Sorry for the confusion...

:-o :-o :-o

07 Apex 647.5 -62.5 for gas = 585 wet no fuel

11 Apex 616 -15 - 12[2gallons in tank] = 589 ish wet no fuel

Looks like a very small weight gain which makes sense as per Knapps post.

SE should be a bit lighter.

Sounds good to me. I prefer a heavier stable sled. My 06 Apex GT suited me to a T. Turning 60 this year so I know i'm going to love the power steering.

If you want to get technical...you have got to subtract what his truck used in gas in 12.5/20 miles/kilometers (another 4 or 5 lbs).

Ok, just read the manual. It only shows the weight with fuel and oil.

RX10P- 690lb
RX10PS- 681lb
RX10PXT-699lb

Holy crap, the scales must be off. Anyway I don't care. This sled is a work or art.

The 11 Apex's exhaust (behind the valve) is smaller and lighter and because of this the cast aluminum exhaust/muffler support in the rear of the tunnel is gone for some weight loss. Now add for the exhaust valve and power steering and you will end up a couple pound's heavier. Actually there is a couple other small weight losses as well but it will still be a couple lb heavier over previous Apes's. This was the latest word i got. Put your scales away, ride it and you will be happy. kviper

Was your gas tank in your truck EXACTLY the same quantity? don't forget one litre of Gas is 2.2 pounds..

:bling

Don't think 2011 will be lighter or Yam would promoted less weight. Apexs never were light but less weight would be a good thing. Maybe 2012 Vector will get a face lift & trim her down.
