2011 Apex XTX Skis

You guys might want to try working on your setup before buying new skis. My stock skis are great on the SE. Seems like most of the complaints are comming from XTX owners??

This is why I pointed out that the XTX's have the front shock springs set to the minimum/soft setting from the factory. My front bumper sits 2" lower than previous Apexs. Cranking up the springs will surely help the steering and roll of the XTX's.

My 8" slim jim duallies are gone after 800miles. :o| I did let out the shock in the middle of the suspension to get more ski pressure because the thing was pushing like a dump truck. Improved the ride a great deal. Now I just have to soften up the back end and get new carbides. Stud boys any better than the slim jim's? They can't be any worse.

Posting this for a friend with a new Apex XTX. His darted like crazy with the stock carbides and the rear end seems way too stiff. I noticed Banks93 mention that he needs to soften up the back end. We have already backed off the adjusters on the torsion springs to "soft", put clicker on shock to soft and it still bounces your #*$&@ off the seat. Feels like you are only using about 25% of the rear suspension travel.

Looking for any suggestions on how to make this thing ride better and also suggestions for the best dual carbide to take away the darting.

Sorry, not trying to hijack. Just like to help my buddy out.

Not overly familiar with the XTX suspension, but increasing the weight transfer usually helps and if the shocks have these adjustments on the skid shocks, reduce the compression and rebound on them too. The manual shows you how to do these adjustments.

Thanks Grimm,

We'll give it some more transfer and see what happens. Already have the dampening as soft as it will go. Sled only has a couple hundred kms on it so the springs may soften a bit also. I could set it up in my sleep if it was a monoshock, but this one is starting all over again.

Yes, but lessen the rebound as well. It should lower the bouncing effect.

The slim jim's worked okay. I would go snowtrackers if money isn't an issue and you want the best. Next I am going to guess they will be sold at dealerships in the US.

I kind of agree with knappattack that the skis suck on this sled and don't make it rail. I have 8" slim jim duallies on it now and it pushes bad and still darts.

I was wondering if you can put the older Apex skies on the 2011 Apex.

I liked the way the old skies and the snowtrackers made the sled rail in the corners.

Do you think that would help?

I put C&A razors with 8 inch stud boy deuce bars on my 2011. No darting no push.
