2011 BIg Moose Shoot Out

We have had to make a change of venue due to bad lake conditions in Old Forge, they got dumped on with snow and the lakes are all chopped up and slushy. So the owner is kind enough to let us use his track that is across the street from Snowridge Ski hill. Here are the details of the race.



There will be no trail ride so that save anyone with NY registration or Old Forge permits.



This will be held at the race track across the street from SNOWRIDGE Mountain at Turin, NY right off Rt. 12. Due to lake conditions in old forge we can not safely run on the lakes. All that was asked is that we park in the Area adjacent to the track and that we patronize the restaurants on premise. Please don't park in the restaurants parking areas, there is a parking area for the race track that runs along the entire track.

This venue is buy far the best snow drag track in NY. The owners of the track will have it groomed and prepped for our event so please respect the property and his requests.



We will run a shoot out and deem the fastest sled of the day and the 1st place prize will be a Lunch and a beverage of choice.



Racing will start at 11 am, and will be double elimination like the past years. 3 sleds at a time with one winner. Round robin style. Its a great system that flows real well and keeps the race moving.



Hopefully this will start to become the must attend event in NY, for the past 3 years we have not any problems, and the people that show up have been great.

As of right now this Cook Off will be on Big Moose lake, the hard pack track is getting nicer and they started to plow a strip. So bring all kinds of sleds if you choose to race, or stop in for a burger or hot dog!!!

I was out Mon. morn on the Freestyle at 8AM, playing in the First Lake powder - tumbled off the back, into a slush puddle It was all good though, riding a 300 lb sled with a narrow ski stance, just like riding a stand up jet-ski

I think its sad you take the trail ride out of the event.thats what i loved out of your event.that made sure only true trailable trailsleds could compete.

Just so everyone knows Me and the old man will be doing this race again this year. Saturday, Feb 12th 2011. This is the 4th year we have done this.

We are going to change the venue a bit. So we don't run into any Liability issues. We are going with the same set up as the Wienie Roast. Totally open forum, all sleds are welcome to race.

There will be no trail ride so that save anyone with NY registration or Old Forge permits.

This will be on snow on either big moose lake or 4th lake depending on lake conditions. More then likely 4th lake, for the size and parking etc. We will set up 1000' markers and have a run what you brung good old race.

We will run 3-4 wide only, no crazy 25 wide stuff, still want to be safe and will have spotters as usual.

There will be a BBQ on the lake going at the same time. Right now the menu is being figured out, but there will be food, snacks, and drinks for everyone. Just look for the Polaris Ranger with a BBQ on skis, that will be where the food is!!

Hopefully this will start to become the must attend event in NY, for the past 3 years we have not any problems, and the people that show up have been great.

Ted, if you come up consider one or two of them burger for you. Be good to see the Jannetty crew come up again. Just bring that little red sled again. Hopefully the ice will be good to light her up!!
