fuel pump relay
I'm not sure if the fuel pump relay is in a different spot on different apexs. Last night I went for a run at -22 c. Machine was working good until we stopped. The fuel pump wouldn't run and the machine start back up. I found the fuel pump relay by The color of the wires. The fuel pump is the only one with three red wires going to it. I popped it out and warmed it up in my pocket and the ol girl flashed right up.

I'm just getting to know my Apex so sorry for dumb question. How would I know the fuel relay is the issue for my sled not started? Is it just something to try if the sled will not start when it's really cold or do you get an error code? How much is a fuel relay? After reading this thread think I should have a spare with me. Thanks.

When you turn the key to on you can feel the relay click and hear the fuel pump running for about 5 sec. If you don't hear the pump then more than likely the relay is frozen. No error codes. I always carry a couple of spares. Relay is about $8.

Apex is the relay closest to the tunnel (least on the 10's above your left foot) and Nytro is the 3rd one from the front.
Dad and I both have Nytros and it happen to both within 24 hours. First time on each sled. A family friend has an Apex and it happen to him the week after.
The new updated relays (September 2010) no longer have the tabs on the side so they are so much easier to change out. They look like a lot better relays than the stock ones but apparently still have the problems. I put a spare relay in a ziplock bag in the tool bag.

On my 2012 XTX it's the relay all the way to the left, no problems with it so far. I located it in case I need to put in my spare.

The feel it click with your finger thing works good when you first turn on the key. Mine is on the far left. If it isn't, it's a good idea to put it there incase it ever fails.

Just trying to help out. I thought it was a TY rule but I always find it interesting to see where people are from anyway. Keep up the great work!

Good thing I read this thread recently, especially locating the relay with the red wires. Ironically, I wasn't able to start my sled this morning and I didn't hear the fuel pump...pulled the relay, warmed it up in my hands, put it back in and the sled fired right up. Thanks guys.
Btw, on my 2011 Apex, this relay is the one on the left.
