When I'm going very slow and coasting, then hit the gas, i hear a kerchunk noise. Is that the clutch? Annoying if I am riding slow with my kids as I hear it often.
I am running with the track on the loose side.

So if it is the transfer rod (and I don't know what the heck that is), is there something I should be doing about it?

Transfer rod

I'm going into territory I know little about here...Transfer rod is located in the lower portion of the skid about midway just above the track. Almost horizontal rod with a lock nut and adjusting threaded rod. Info on adjusting it is around page 40 or so in the 2012 manual. It's in the suspension section. Oh one other thing. Mine clunks too. There is another thread on this subject. Some say normal, some say chain adjustment and some say track too loose. I can't get out right now but will readjust each item 1 at a time to check. I will post whenever I get this done. Without snow, that could take a while. I can take a photo if you like. Good Luck

I would check your belt for flat spots, or check the speedo shaft bearing, both have been know to make a clunk noise when taking off. good luck

Yes, Transfer rod is under your butt. You'll have to investigate the other areas mentioned.

It's the clutch. If you put in on a stand you can get it to do it too, but not as noticable since there's no load on the machine.
Don't worry about it and just ride.

- 2016 RS Vector XTX 1.25 Lug wifes..2013 RS Vector LTX.. 2003 600 VMax Past Machines 3-2007 Attaks 1-2010 Vector LTX.. sorry no Stinkdoos or poo's cats.
I notice our 2010 Vector LTX clunks to get going. Low mileage on it too.
Clunking in a way that can be engageing fast or faster the my other sleds have. I have a 07 Attak and that's smooth engageing.
Is there an adjustment ? make the belt sit tighter in the sheaves at idle?

The way to tighten or loosen deflection is on the secondary with tiny shims that go behind three screws on the back of the secondary.
Get a few & try it, but chances are with just one shim behind each screw then it'll be too tight & the belt will squeal at idle.
So, which do you want. Slightly harsh engagement/clunk, or too tight of deflection with excessive wear at idle & squealing.
