I went riding over the weekend and I went to start my sled on Sunday for a quick ride and I got code 43 and the sled wouldn't start. The sled was almost out of gas, so I put 2 gallons in from a tank. Then, I checked the fuse and it was fine (replaced it just in case) and swapped the relay with the lights/accessory relay. No luck.
I brought it home and kept it in my heated garage for 3 days. When I turn the key on, I hear a sound, but it doesn't sound like the fuel pump normally does, it's like a lower, quieter sound. So, my questions are:
- Will a bad fuel pump still make noise or just quit?
- How do I diagnose the fuel pump as the culprit?
- Could a plugged fuel filter make the pump sound A LOT quieter?
Other possible contributing factors:
- I rode for about 15 miles with the fuel light on to make it to the closest gas station in Copper Harbor, MI
- When I got back Saturday night and parked the sled, the low fuel light was on again.
- The sled has around 2500 miles
