when i did mine, exup cables where broken already so i just moved everything back and did not remove the flex pipes at all.

It’s not the cables that restrict the system from moving back. It just how they are, my none exup was the same. You can get a gap but it’s barely big enough to remove/install the donuts without damage. IMO it’s easier to remove one flex pipe at a time and change one donut at a time. Be sure to put ant seize on the manifold bolts.
