I disagree.
Just curious, but what difference is it going to make if it has brand new oil in it or oil with 500 miles on it?
There is no such thing as break-in oil, break-in oil is only the oil that came with the sled, it is not special blended oil and if anyone tells you differently, they don't know what they are talking about.
Break-in and ring seating etc is done on how you ride the sled, heat cycle the engine etc etc, it has nothing to do with the kind of oil that is in it.

X2 "break-in oil" is the same as the yamalube in the bottle

I dont use Yamalube,, so, the break-in oil is very different from the oil I use.

well its not like saying i belive in bigfoot there are allot of break in oils on the market to say ther is no such thing is just plain wrong. Not to mention you were the only one that brought up "break in oil" I dont know what they put in the motor at the factory but i would bet dollars to donuts that it is not synthetic as it prevents wear that is vital to the motor for proper ring seating. not to mention that the filter is supose to be changed at that time and not again for quite awhile so the dirt and crud that wears off during break in that is caught by the filter is now partly in the new filter if changed too soon.as I said in my post IMO. do as you would like with yours for mine I ran it like i stole it right out of the box and changed the oil at 500 miles cause that was where that wekend ended.
Well here's another question for you guys. I have 2600 miles on my sled this year and changed the oil at 2500 miles. I now have a shortened season and only 100 miles on my current oil. Should I change the oil? It is now gonna sit til next year.

i would change it before next season not now leave old oil in over summer but I would change it for sure for next season. as it sits it gets acidic and is no longer recomended to run in the motor. if you change it now it would still be recomended that you change it before ridding it next season. give it a bath and grease it up and put her away.

I guess i should have said it this way, the oil that is in the sleds when they come out of the crate is the same as semi synthetic yamalube

I would change both at around 500 to 600 miles, then every spring right before storage. Your filter will catch anything during the break in so changing it prior to the 500 to 600 mile mark is not necessary. IMO

Dont change it until next spring is what I would do!
