Geez TY'ers, how pretentious do we have to be here. Can people really really not give the guy a nice congrats on his new sled without comparing it to their "nicer" sled or cutting on the guy or commenting on his nice stuff? It's a nice sled, and yes, newer and nicer than most of any of ours. Doesn't mean we have to act like school children...... I've just been watching responses to this thread and it's embarrasing to this group. I will note some have been deleted. Either mods are doing their usual stellar jobs or people came to their senses.

XTX Pics
Long time - first time. I just picked up the same sled 2 weeks ago but was very afraid of dropping 13k for a sled that has a good number of posts and publications ripping the hyfax and handling issues in the 2011 XTX which otherwise had fabulous reviews.
Before I made the decision, I got the tel # of a Yamaha product manager in CA and called her. She was basically useless but said there were no changes that would affect the 2012's Hyfax performance and the only change was to the ski position on the spindle. This may be because they don't want to admit they had a problem with the 2011's but who knows.
Anyways, from changing wheels to adding snow scratchers and the new dupont hyfax, i've read every post there is. Maybe someone can help. Before the first ride I plan to add the yamaha marginal snow wheels and possibly some scratchers in the middle of the rail and start with that before I go crazy changing all the wheels.
Looking at the pictures, there's now a hole in the rail forward of the front wheels that the small marginal wheels can bolt to that I didn't see on the 2011 leftover at the dealer. The small wheel ends up about 1 1/2" away from the front wheel. Questions - I have the kit and bolted it in loosely.
Would it make sense that the wheel is pushing the track down about 3/16" from where it would otherwise be without the wheels ? Is that the idea ? Did Yamaha put the hole in the wrong spot ? Should I drill another hole further up the slope ? Will that wheel take the kind of abuse I can see it exposed to ?
If this is the wrong place to post this, please let me know and I will pay more attention to what I'm doing. Thanks

Great question! I have also read lots of reviews and have decided to just ride it and see how things work out. Many have said stuff about hyfax wear and many have said it wore down fast at first and stopped, many say to add all kinds of skis and shims and carbides, so I will see how I make out and post back asap! the only thing i am adding is studs, 171 1.325 woody megabites 3 per row. I have a feeling we are going to love these sleds and can't wait for the snow!! Ride safe!!
