i hear the xtx has more room... id add some strength to the protectors to be sure tho...SIKEWARD said:I just put a prestudded attack xt track on my XTX. Do you guys think I should beef up the tunnel protectors so that my exup doesn't end up looking like the first post? Also some guys have talked about adding hyfaxs to the tunnel protectors. How are you guys doing this? Anybody have a picture of this? Thanks

I talked with my Yamaha Pro Dealer's Gold Certified technician about the need for increased tunnel protection to accomodate studdding. Their recommedation for using 114 studs down the middle is:
1) Use 1.325 Studs
2) Use double backer (XTX too powerful for limited amount of single backer studs)
3) No need for addtional tunnel protection (they had a 2011 with 4500 miles owned by a big guy, no signs of stud marks)
While I did not specifically ask, I intend to locate the studs as close to the rails as possible staying away from the middle.
For what it is worth, I trust these guys, Motorcycles of Manchester, NH. Always performed excellent service on my Attak and also ride themselves

114 studs and double backers, are they recommending alternating every other pitch? The reason I ask is that was the pattern I was thinking.
