Well folks....broke down and bought a new 2012 HCR 1100 turbo today....1st impressions are as follows:

Pro's

1. I like the rider forward feel and weight of the cat.
2. Long and narrow / very easy to throw around in the deep stuff.
3. Killer looks to boot.

Con's

1. Price...just over $18k canadian bone stock with only a spare belt included....serious mod's on the way.

NOTE: The Turbo Vector was out for a ride right after I parked the HCR back in the garage and needless to say the old girl brought me home smiling.....hummmm.....now I need another $2k to get me to 250hp...on the cat....the wife is not very happy! :yam:

Some may ask why a CAT? To be quite honest the mountains are where I play / back country riding and the 2012 Nytro MTX just don't cut it....even boosted. I just could not wait for Yamaha to come out with a new mountain sled....hopefully yamaha is listening?

Keep an eye out on Cain's Quest this year....

It won't take 2g to get you to 250HP on the cat. Get the TD ecu for 600 or so, and buy a set of $200 STM weights and a D&D red primary spring. Thats it. You can have 280-300 hp on race gas, or meth.

Na, sounds more like a bull moose getting violated...

LOL!! Same goes for the 1200 doo....rides nice, but sounds like you are riding a lawnmower!!!

TD mods are on order...or shall I say backorder. I agree on the sound....very tame compared to the bender turbo set-up which leaves you with a head ache after 4hrs riding...beer cures that though :drink:

38kms total on the cat since purchase........118kms on the Yamaha....I will let you guys decide which one is my favourite.....

:yam:

Can and remap and you will be much happier. I myself won a boondocker ezjacker. I need to get the sled broke in though before I can install the ezjacker though. Also doing a carbon fiber muff and lightweight battery and custom vertical steering post. between battery and can I will loose 26lbs and gain 12 hp. Should be quite noticeable. When I put the EZjacker on i will be at 220 hp. The 1100t turbocharger is quite small 220 with can is likely all it will do at higher elevations. You want big power go with the 2860 upgrade right away, then 280hp easy.

Some minor clutching changes and very impressed to date. This sled is very trail friendly so far which I never expected from a mountain machine....had a 04 King Cat a couple of years ago and that thing was a handful on the trails. Not very impressed with the pastic piping under the hood but that will all be upgraded in the quest for more boost!

Biggest area of concern for me on this sled is the front end.....close encounter with a hidden rock in the powder and it will be an expensive trip....definately not build to take a beating like my yamaha. Not much for cooling heat exchanger wise but it is a mountain machine.
