Got a great deal on a 2012 phazer rtx.
I always stud my sleds, I'm thinking 68 or 96 with 6" dual carbides. Is this too much?
It's going to be my sons sled, I have a nytro setup the same way which I love. Perfect
for traction/breaking and grips adequate on ice.
Thanks for any help.

i'd go 96 down the middle, unless if you more $ for a 1.5" track w/o studs.
yes at least 6" carbides will be good.
get the suspension set up for your boy, helps so it won't be tippy for him & turn better in corners.

I run 6" Dooly's with no studs, so 6" at the minimum with studs.

What's the best way to setup so. It's not tippy? I'm guessing pull the front limiter strap in? Anything else?
Ski Spacers to the outside. Both of them or a good set of Mountain skiis like 6.9 Pilots or Yamaha. Get it wide and low. Set your springs all on soft and revalve the shocks so it doesnt bottom at soft setting. Above all teach him to get his butt to the inside of turn or uphill and hang off. All the time. This sled will teach you proper body english that is usefull even on a more stable sled. Its easy to misjudge a corner or get lazy sidehilling. This sled demands a active rider. This will teach him good habits when or if he moves on to something else.

^Good advice ^
The Phazer requires an active rider for sure. How many miles are on it? Reason I ask is they take some time to break in. Ours was super tippy when it was brand new, and took about 500 miles to settle down some.
