A while ago some of you may remember my post about codes flashing and moisture in my guage cluster.
We are still on this. It is an intermittent problem but is now really affecting my ability to ride this thing.
The TORS keeps kicking in and shutting me down.
Once I pretty much stop I can get going again but when I let completely off of the throttle it generally quits.
Speedo stops working and goes to zero and codes 42 and 84 flash along with EPS signal.
There is nothing wrong with the TORS or speedo. Codes are random
I have had the cluster dried out and basic checks done at the dealer (thats another story) and nothing is wrong.
I went out again Saturday and got half a mile before it acted up again.
I went to another dealer on the way home and he suggested that it might be low voltage on the battery.
I went home and checked it with a voltmeter.
I had 12.4 v on the battery with the sled shut off.
When running the codes were still flashing
I charged it to 13.6 v and started it and the codes were gone.
Next morning I checked voltage again and it was down to 12.8v
I decided not to take it out because i didn't want to get stuck out there.
Voltage when running is at 14.2
Could I have a bad battery or what.
Now the dealer issue.
My dealer for whatever reason is not a Yammie dealer anymore. This is a local guy I have been buying from for years.
The guy that suggested the voltage thing is in another country so really can't do much with a Canadian warranty issue.
My next dealer is an hour and a half away. I have been there twice and its a pain getting off work to take a 3 hour trip to get a brand new sled worked on and then go back and pick it up.
Yamaha didn't even tell me they were tossing my old dealer.
Anyway...anybody got ideas about this...I have lost 4 days of riding on what are finally decent trails

Time to update this.
I got the battery changed and at the time there were no code issues.
Loaded up and went to Grand Marais for a weekend trip.
Unloaded and hit the trails.
500' and the codes are flashing again.
I guess it wasn't the battery.
Well, I'm not giving up this time. I'll ride it till it quits and leave it on the trail for whoever wants it.
I managed to get through the weekend. As long as I didn't let completely off on the throttle it would keep going. If I let right off it would quit and throttle would not re engage. Tors was activating.
I come to almost a complete stop, 5 mph I think. Hard to tell with no speedo. And carefully squeeze throttle again and I'm off to the races.
Not letting right off in big moguls is tougher than it sounds and kinda freaky having to stop to get going again in them.
I logged about 350 miles for the weekend and only 9 showed up on the odometer in the few times the codes went away and speedo kinda worked.
Its back at the shop now and we are trying for a speedo sensor change
We will see how that works out.

Get your dealer to show you where to disconnect TOR's and Speedo Sensor.
If you still have the issue you can try one at a time on the trail to likely find the issue. [Speedo sensor just trace wire until you see the connector. Usually near the secondary clutch] Not sure on the TOR's wires on the new Vector.
You also may have a sticky throttle cable or weak throttle return spring.
Yeah battery was fine. 12.8 is usually max resting voltage.
If your former dealer won't face you, I'm guessing they were the issue. YMCA is usually very loyal to good dealers.

I was playing around with my 12 Vector and unplugged the speed sensor. It blew the 84 code, tors, the 42, speed sensor, and the EPS code. All the same issues you desribe. Once plugged back in life was good. I now have 4,000 miles on the sled. I sense there is a problem with the connection of the speed sensor down by the clutch. I would confirm the connection is ok. It appears that if there is a problem with the speed sensor then the tors will also be screwed up along with the EPS.

Just got a call from the dealer.
They put the new sensor on and say it cleared everything up.
Rode it 20 miles and all good.
I will get there to pick it up in the next day or so...another 3 hour drive but hopefully the last one

Sorry to hear your problems with the new Vector. Hopefully the speed sensor cleared it up. Knock on wood mine's been flawless so far.

It seems to have cleared up the code issues but things still aren't quite right.
The speedo is a bit off. It doesn't respond the way it should.
When I stop the speedo slows down slower than I do. I get to a complete stop and it is still counting down5,4,3,2,1,0
Not a big deal possibly but still something is wrong.
Now the snow is gone so it can't really be tested/fixed till next season

Can't ya jack up the back end and gas it??? I'd take it back and tell the dealer.. If you wait then he can get out of it. He may have snow to test it to?
