Hi,
I am a new member.
I am getting very close to pulling the trigger on a 2012 Venture Lite. It's new old stock and being sold at a deep discount, $8KCAD. I have read the threads and it seems like the main issue with this sled is the tunnel icing up. Does anyone know if Yamaha addressed this issue in the 2012 model year, are there any other issues I should be aware of? I am also considering the Venture RS, but its $2500 more, is it worth the difference?
Thanks in advance for your help.

I don't think Yamaha changed anything with the sled's exhaust but there is a kit available to extend the exhaust - I haven't heard if it works but it looks ugly. I'm more than pleased with my mod but it was a lot of work.
If you are going to spend extra it is just as well to go with the newer style Venture GS or TF - rider fwd/ ps / etc.
That's a good deal on the VLite as well BTW.

That is a very good deal. The tunnel icing was never addressed except here with various mods, like Bomba's. I'm in the process of testing the Never Wet coating as well as Dupont's Teflon spray. It's also affected by the temperature. The colder it is, the worst it is as snow melts/vaporizes on the hot exhaust and refreezes in the tunnel.
Hopefully I can get some results soon on the coatings.

Thank you for the information. I decided to pull the trigger and brought it home today. I would be interested to know how the spray works.

I see you're in Ottawa. I'm not sure if the Teflon spray is available in Canada. I got mine in Ogdensburg NY. I'll be updating the following thread with any updates on the coatings:
