I am purchasing a 2012 XTX and want to know what track you guys recommend for it. I have always just kept the ripsaw on my other sleds. My 09 has the ripsaw now. I want to possibly get something with a 1.5 lug because I do lots of off trail. I do ride the trails also and we have lots of lakes here so I do lots of high speed runs. I am after something that is fully clipped and pretty good in the deep stuff. I would even consider a 1.25 lug again but something better in the snow.
Thanks

Though, stud protector removal is mandatory with this track.

I have a 1.75" Back Country on mine and love it. Hooks up good on the trail, no excess slide wear, and it's awesome off trail - completely different sled compared to OEM track. It's fully clipped, and is a bit slower on the lakes though. I also ride in northern WI so snow conditions are good and that is why slide wear is probably acceptable for me.

I am concerned about slider wear, I am always complaining about that. Kind of want to max out at 1.5" We get conditions that are pretty hard and some -35 degree days.

What about the Crossover 1.5?

I have had Back Countrys as well as Intenses in 121" as well as 136". The Back Country outperforms the Intense by far and I can honestly say that it has got no more slider wear problems. If you are experiencing slider wear problems, ice scratchers and oversized wheels will have much bigger impact than reduced lug height.
Still, your track choice is nothing but a compromise. There is not one track that will do it all. The track choices that are exciting off trail is not going to be perfect for rock hard, icy trails.

I'm sold on the Cobra's, and have had great luck with those in many different conditions. I wish this track was OEM.

If you want a good track that will last, look at ARCTIC CAT PART NUMBER 1602-191, which is a CAMOPLAST PREDATOR 1.25x144.

1.5 and high speed runs on a lake to mix. I know you want the best of everything but big lugs scrub top end!

I have a 1.5 Intense on my shorty and love it. It has a ton of bite on hard pack, and does pretty well in powder. I had a 1.5 Predator on my last sled, and I think that this track blows both that and the Ripsaw away.

Cobra or Predator are my two top choices. Cobra for looser snow conditions and Predator for hardpack.

Some of the Artic Cat crossover sled next year are getting a Cobra 1.5, I am sure that this will be a great track for on or off trail. I hope that it will be available in 136 x 1.5.

No it is not. I installed a 1.75" backcountry on mine, and just cut down the track a 1/2 inch above the windows so I could leave the heat-exchanger protectors in place. I'd show you photos, but I just had computer issues today and lost everything since I backed it up last September.
Anyway, the Backcountry is an awesome track, very good in the snow, but I have to say that I'd recommend something that you could throw some studs in. Changing a track twice a year sucks big, but so does spring riding with no studs.
