2013 apex what a let down by yamaha

feeling the same way, 7 years on the apex really wanted something different then the present sled, looking at all the improvements of the other 3 gotta look there if i am getting a new sled

not sure if 7 years and same sled is fair. They just changed the front end, skis, power steering, exhaust, seat, bar heaters and added a longer trail skid, with better front plastic last year. I think your dreaming for them to do a major model change to the apex line again for a couple years. Nitro would be next or let it run it run its coarse and introduce another sled to phaze into that market.
Some refinements would have been nice, larger gas tank and the tuner skis, maybe some wild shock options for people with endless budgets.

For what they want for these new apexs and the delay in snow this year,im going to just keep mine.it can be one bad sled if i dump $14,000.00 into it! :-o

Come on guys, there's a new 120 in the line up!! you know how much RnD has o go into a new sled like this?.....lmao.. It would have been nice to see something new.

With the 120 they went to the people that are into R&D. Cat for the chassis, Yamaha supplied the engine.
For 2014, Cat sleds with 4 stroke Yamaha engines. Probably a good thing cause it won't that 6 plus years to address little things like handwarmers, etc.

every one else in this maket came out with new rider forward and the apex is still old school its a great sled but the platform is out dated by alot, the motor is great but put it in something you can really get ahold of on a rought trail. i love my pex on the hard pack but put in some rough stuff and they cant handle it not with the way i ride anyways

According to my source Z120 converted to Mini Blue is only blue Cat with Yamaha motor you'll see in the forseeable future. That's it. No Yamaha branded Pro Climb chassis unfortunately.

There also is a new sled. However the Japs came to town in Minoqua this week, reviewed how sled sales were faring and the number of dealers with massive holdovers and excess inventory and delayed it's release, so no Phazer replacement this year. I just learned this 5 minutes ago. This was completely top secret stuff and the sled is designed, ready to be built, and was planned as a 2013 model, but then suddnely yanked yesterday or Wednesday.

All I can say to those Japanese bean counters is go suck an egg.

I feel that the new Yami's are somewhat of a let down. For the kind of money they are costing they could at least offer some more color options, and bring back the blue. Also for the premium price they should at least have matching wheels, and maybe a new skid. I love the four strokes but I think Yami should consider a couple of new two-strokers back into the mix. Otherwise, unless you have to have eps and exup, keep running your currect Apex and Vector's and save your money for sledding vacations!

Pretty sure CRs blog alludes to the new chassis part. And he took a shot at them for pulling it back by posting yesterday that nothing drastic was coming.

Still love my Attak. Keeping my eyes open for another 06-08.

2013 Yamaha

If we all knew our Yamahas, then we would realize that the Apex changed drastically in 2011. I don't understand 7 years???? If you have ever ridden a 2011 or newer Apex, then you would find that there is a big difference in ride, quietness, performance, etc. It is a totally different sled including body panels, seats, suspension, etc. The power steering makes the sled a dream to ride , especially after a big mile day. I have a 2011 Apex XTX, and the sled does everything that I want from a sled. Like any sled, you need to set the sled up for your personal way of riding, body size, etc. I don't understand the rider forward issue either, as I think the Apex is as far rider forward as I would want. I have ridden many different sleds when riding with my buddies and I always can't wait to get back on the Apex. Even when I ride my old Attak GT. I have ridden snowmobiles for 45 years and am a little more selective where I ride. Most of the trails I ride are fairly smooth, although can get pretty rough in the afternoons. I have no problem keeping up with any of the other sleds in the rough conditions. If you are a ditchbanger, then get a Nitro.

i almost died on a nytro i wouldnt ride one if it was the only sled left my 2010 apex has the same rear suspention as the 11 and 12 and i seems like every time i go riding on a rought trail i am weldding something in the rear
