2013 Nytro XTX
Picked up a brand new 2013 xtx this October making the leap from ski doo xp and Polaris rush. I was a skeptic about the handling but I really wanted to try the four stroke for the motor and reliability. I have over 1,000k on the sled already this season and im beyond impressed. The motor is sweeeet like I had planned but I would like a little more top end (ill fix that with aftermarket add ons). Ive yet to line up with anyone but it feels like a holeshot monster. I was scared how it would handle but im impressed with that too. After the talk I heard about this sleds poor handling I was shocked when I jumped on and preferred the handling over any xp or rush ive ever ridden. I experienced no darting and the sled seems more stable than others. I was also worried about the weight, but to me this sled feels much lighter in the saddle than its dry weight suggests. I think this is partly because of the high bars and the fact when standing youre over the nose of the sled. Recently rode with friends who own the exact sleds I used to; e tec 800, rush 800, dragon 800, they all tried the yami and loved it. They all ate some crow after ripping on me for making the jump to the yamadog :). Im really questioning why yami would move away from this sled. Only issue ive had was a dead hand warmer which was covered under warranty. Ive never ran the sled side by side with anyone but what should I be able to run with? The dealer actually mentioned that in stock form the nitro takes the new viper. Just wanna say thanks to all the TY folks I questioned the hell out of this fall before I made the the purchase!

I love my xtx!!
To get significant top end increase you mid as well look into turbo or super charger.
Ride on..

I just want to beat stock or mildly modded 800s Hauck tells me full exhaust, intake, programmer, and clutching will get that done..and most likely take them pretty good out of the hole. Turbo does sound fun...just not $3500 fun :). I hope Yamaha comes out with a stock turboed sled id buy it in a heart beat, as for now I see no advantage to buying a viper that is slower than a nitro xtx

the best ive seen on my "dreamometer" was 107 on a hard packed road. I used to be able to see close to 120 on my etec im not expecting to see that on this one lol

I have beat a skidoo 800r and a crossfire 800 with exhaust. Beat them buy a couple sled lengths!!

They nytro is a great sled. I have had 2 XTX and 1 mtx. I find they handle very well and take bumps very well. They are a bit heavy steering though and that was my only beef for long hauls.

There are just so many haters out there. This sled runs neck and neck with 800's all day. Just short some long legs.

I added a Hurrican/Hindle exhaust and intake kit and made huge gains. With clutching you can gain about 5 mph and get there quicker. My 2013 MTX with this kit (took off my XTX) will run neck and neck with my turbo viper to 65 mph. It actually has a touch more jump out of the hole. Just when the turbo gets rolling it is tough to beat.

This is a very viable sled, chassis works good in the mountains too but just needs some updated to make it work as good as the other modern mountain sleds.

Enjoy, its solid and will last you a long time. Lots of things out there that make it even better. Add some MTX skis, and a set of Elkas on the front and that sled just rails and destroys bumps.

The 13 comes with the tuner skis. I have dual 4 in. carbides on them and love it! I plan on doing the full hauck set up eventually, but getting the hauck stage 5 clutch kit this week as this is an adjustable kit for when I add power. Are you saying the clutching alone might gain me a little up top? I know some sleds do and some don't. Thanks for the info!

I believe it is geared for 103 or around that so clutching will net som gains.

When I put the super rat weights in I did gain more top end at a lower rpm. When I put the full exhaust on I got more cause my rpm came up to 9000.

This was all running a backcountry track and 20/40 gearing. Still able to pull 100 gph easily.

Do your homework on exhaust systems. Some lose power. Not saying haucks is bad but some gain you much more gains. Handle kit from hurricane gives you 18 hp. Excell is a good option, Aean exhaust is good. For slip on the Barkers is really good and nets about 12 hp at crank.

the hurricane kit is the best bang for your buck I think, but I live 30 min from Hauck which is nice. Hauck backed yamahas factory race team for alotta years so their solid. They deal with Yamaha and Yamaha only

The hauck system is similar the hurricane, but instead of drilling the hole in the air box its an entirely different intake and an adjustable clutch kit. A little more spendy but probably bigger gains and peace of mind that they are right down the road :).

Yea as long as there right down the road to do the fine tuning go with it. My cousin bought there whole kit for his apex and ended up being a loud turd that would get beat by stock sleds.

For sure. Whatever aftermarket stuff I put on this thing im having the manufacturer install it and dial it in. This motor has been out a long time and im sure the tuners have it figured out. Ill pay the cash to get it done right. I had Yamaha two stroke triples in the late 90's that had complete hauk systems...they were scary fast

Just curious how I would do in complete stock form against a lower hp 800 like a Polaris Pro r rush? as they are sweet out of the hole but don't have great top end.

iv'e got 907 miles on the 2013 nytro xtx 1.75 i bought as a left over back in march, i will tell you this is the best sled i have ever owned, my riding pal bought one also, i have the oft steering relocate on and he does not, we have switched sleds and can tell you mine is easier to steer,we have the same carbides as well..
this damn motor pulls so hard and that track puts the power on the ground!! it is fun fun fun..
seeing 13.5 mpg for right now...my only gripe is the small tank but you have heard that before.
fun sled i love riding it...you can pound deep snow with it and it handles the trails quite well...
glad i bought it just turn the key and go, o ya stay warm put a bigger windshield on with the side deflectors , was riding in -8 temps no probs
