I have about 4000 miles on the stock shocks and am looking for suggestions on upgrades/rebuilds. I understand that Yamaha went with the HPG's in the front for weight savings but im not sure what they installed in the back. Im looking for any info on how to rebuild/revalve the stock shocks (im about 220) or getting aftermarket shocks. I would prefer to rebuild since it is more economical and I know I am capable unless there are some crazy tools you need. Also, whats everyone running for a shock/spring package. I see there are dual rates out there available. Any feedback would be great. TIA

Send them to Hygear and get their sport package setup for your weight and riding style. It will be cheaper than buying all the tools, nitrogen bottles seals and oil yourself.

Find a local reputable shop that does 'em & give your info, no messing with shipping and paying Hygear prices.
My guy is $35 / shock- new seals, oil, nitro and re-valve with mostly a 2-3 day turn around as he works a full time job + does a lot of the dirt car racers set ups.
I'm 300# on an '09 RTX with shocks re-valved, stock springs & just added BOP 4 position blocks for a bit more adjustment, it doesn't bottom out all to often and had no issues with a nice ride in the 3 years I've had it.
