I put just over 2000 trouble free miles on this stock sled last winter. My riding style is mostly groomed rails to trails so its pretty much always going in a straight line. Sometimes I have to run ice covered roads from trail to trail and that gets a little scary with no studs! My question is, what size studs, how many studs, what stud pattern, and what has to be done to the tunnel if anything?

My SE is set up with 2-3-2-3 up the middle. 1.325" (I think). I bought it that way. This works well for control in icy corners and roads.

If you stud you will need to provide additional rear exchanger protection and brace the existing tunnel protector brackets. Lots of info on this if you do a search.

Consider a prestuded track (Ice Attack) as an alternative if yo are looking primarily for control and not ice racing. The extra messing around with brackets and added protection may not be needed.

I have 153 1.325 in mine. like soldier said need protectors to protect exchangers and exhaust. my pattern 4-2-4-2 double backers for the 4 row and single backers for the 2 row

Thanks for the replies!
