2014 Apex (SS) Rumors

I have looked into my crystal ball! I forsee a lot of angry posts in 2014! Mostly because no matter what they bring to the table it won't please everyone. This has been true every year for as long as I've been a member! I just don't see that changing!

Sasquatch we must have the same crystal ball. lol :jump: Truth is the amount of money Yamaha makes on sleds is really insignificant to their bottom line so why would they spend the money needed to do what some of these posts are asking for. I believe the reason Yamaha has sleds at all is to get people into the dealerships during the slow months of winter.

Starting to heg bets that the new yamaha sleds may not have a double a-arm front suspension. For sure it will have two-front skis/one track but after that it may get very strange.

I agree with you guys - I'd love to get back on a Yammi - but the have to get the weight down more than anything. The motors are outstanding. Fit and finish are outstanding too. Time for a new chassis or 2 and a new motor or two! Time for a refresh for the entire lineup imo.

Well just throwing my opinion out there, I think yamaha has dropped the idea of any 2 stroke all together, hence the discontinued 2 stroke outboards. But what definetly seems to add up is they already have the 180 HP 4 banger, and it might want another home... Also thr 500 class phazer seems to be the most outdated besides the vk pro so that might be a starting point aswell . I guess il just keep dreaming about thepossibilities for now :) all I can say is I'm definetly not disapointed in my 2011 apex.

The biggest reason that 4 strokes are become more and more prevalant, and Yamaha wants away from them is Emissions.
I do hope they can get the weight down, thought a new sled isnt in the cards for me well ever since i am not going to buy a toy that costs more than a pretty much new used car.

What Yamaha should do is make the sled larger with Baja truck style travel front and rear.Only so much we can do with shocks that have short strokes and WHOOPS that are 1-3+ft! lots more travel would ERASE these hills.,adj of course. Put there Supercharged Engine they have for the waverunners in it ,,approx 300hp! ALL SLEDS have always gotten larger since they came out past 40- 50yrs,Skidoo,Polaris,Artic cat ,and Yamaha! Lighter is better but...im sure whatever new chassis, technology, etc etc will be nice! :yam: :letsnow:

Sorry to bring this up again, but latest rumour in Norway says that Apex will be continued in 2014! And the Nytro is gone, replaced by a new platform. This is supposed to be confirmed by a dealer(who might have picked it up on a internet-forum just like the rest of us..)

I meant continued as in still in the line-up(because it contains the best engine the world has ever seen in a snowmobile), or not-dead as the Nytro.. Either way, this is just another rumour. Please apologize my bad english, I still dream of the day when the norwegian language is spoken all over the world ;)

Only thing I no is a fact is. There is a cylinder head race shop in US that does the RnD work on the R1 race bike cylinder heads for the Yamaha race program. They have come up with substantial more power working on the cylinder head. I buy ported cylinder heads for the Chevy LS Gen III engines that I build from them. I have tried yo get them to do me a head for my apex cylinder head like what they are doing for Yamaha but they are not allowed to do anything outside of Yamaha. Maybe this will be something coming soon for the apex engine but I don't know and I am not at liberty to say whose shop is doing this. I don't want to loose my relationship with them.

I heard similar rumors from dealer, Apex in Nytro out and new platform to replace Nytro. Supertraxmag is buzzing about the next Yamaha and writing about turbo's now.

As much as I love my Apex, it's getting old..... if the sled is the same next year then it will have to be a Cat turbo! Man that even hurts to say!
:rocks:

If YMC has a new platform or engines then they better set them up for factory test rides this winter. 1st year sleds always wait & see then buy following year so if they are going to do it they better let us know soon. New & non currents just sitting around at dealers anyway from what I have seen. Too many leaks for something not to happen & all coming from YMC dealers so something is coming.

Non-currents not sitting around at Port Yamaha, especially Apex's. He's selling them hand over fist.
2013's are sitting yes, but 2011 and 2012's are rolling out the door.
