Gentlemen
I appologise if this topic has been beat to death but I am a new Yamaha Viper owner! The Big switch from Skidoo 800Etec!
Anyway my question is: Are the stock carbides good enough for trail riding(no deep snow) on my RTX? I have 135 studs and MBRP trail can.
Any advice would be Greatly Appreciated!

I tested the single carbide on the stock skis. I also tested the Curve skis and even the Pilot skis on my 2014. Ultimately, I ended up going with the stock skis w/ 6" Double Downs by SnowStuds which were $129 (Woodys Slim Jims are basically the same thing but they are around $150). Easy/light steering effort with no darting. I ride aggressive and have had no complaints on handling.

Are you running a RTX, LTX, or XTX studs or no studs?

not to hyjack but what would be the best carbide setup to run with no studs?...i found the stock ones not to bad but always would like to improve

You're running the cat 7000 correct? If so didn't all cats come with staggered dual carbides? My buddies xf7000 did and I had no complaints about his with no studs. No darting at all and steered just as easy as the stock viper skis

I'm running an xtx with out studs. Any suggestion for trail handling? Is it worth buying aftermarket skis?

My Pilots are slightly better than stock but I would not put them on again. But I rode Viper 129 and a xf7000 137 with Curves and they never pushed and had easier steering than my Pilots. I know I should take the plunge and buy them but they are expensive. Cant really say on darting since I dont remember riding on a hardpack trail all year last year. The biggest issue and something to consider is if you have 2 sleds with wide skis it is a pain in the butt trailering. Phazer has Pilots also (which work awesome on it) but you have to overlap skis and if you use a ramp it might not be wide enough. Curves are wide also same issue. I plan to try narrowing up the stance on mine hoping to help push and this trailer issue with Pilots if that doesnt work I will just bite the bullet and get the Curves.
