Was at the dealers the other day and they 2 vipers sittin on the floor, one was a 2014, I believe it was an ltx se but can't remember for sure now that I think of it, it was def an se, the other was a 2015 ltx dx. Went and sat on the 2015, suspension settled in, front and rear shocks all had good movement. Jumped on the 14, it was like a brick, the rear suspension didn't budge a bit! Then got off and tried pushing down on the rear bumper of the se and I could move it maybe 2 inches with all my weight, the ltx dx I could push down, not real easy but I could collapse it to the transfer blocks, rebound came right back up nice and quick. Not sure if yamaha made any official announcement as to whether or not they did change shock valving in the 15s but it sure felt like it to me! Wishing the best of luck to all the 2015 viper owners and hoping for yous that the suspension settings work out well for everyone!

I bought a 2015 ltx se and the rear suspension is real stiff on it, I could also only get it to compress a couple inches so I removed the skid shocks and sent them out for revalving. When I pulled them out of the sled they were real hard to compress and the rebound on them was super slow. The ltx DX has the coil over shocks and I noticed they compressed a lot easier.

Yes the rear shocks were extremely stiff on my 14 ltx se. I had both of mine revalved. When I had the center shock out I put the shaft back in and with 2 guys pushing down on just the shock on a concrete floor we couldn't even get it to compress, rear shock was about as bad and it was a very slow rebound as well. Both of mine got sent out and got softer compression and quicker smoother rebound. I also have softer torsion springs as well as I swapped out my front floats for coil overs
I'm curious to hear more about any valving changes for 2015. I've been very interested in the Vipers, but I like to really dial in suspensions. It's really a shame that none of them have fully adjustable shocks all around, even the SE and LE models. Quite a bit can be done with compression and rebound adjustments before sending the shocks out to get revalved.
Nice sleds otherwise...which makes it a tough decision for me.

The 15 le does have comp and rebound hoping that is all those will need we will see.

I havent seen anywhere that the LTX LE has compression and rebound

No rebound in the rear on the RTX LE although they are supposed to.
Yes I meant RTX le. It has rebound and compression on the rear shock.

What more can we do to complain, should we all call again? It sucks that NONE of the shocks are as advertised.

The 2014 compared to the 2015 LTX SE, the suspension in the skid is the same. There is no difference. So if you ordered a SE then be prepared to do something. Or have a rough riding sled. Unless your beating on it its a rough ride!!

My 2015 RTX SE with the torsion spring set on M has about 2-3 inches of sag when I sit on it (I go about 210lbs). Pushing on the rear bumper I can make it go up and down relatively easy - not to mean that it's too soft or anything. But it's a far cry from being so stiff I can't make it move. Now with that being said, my brother's 2014 RTX SE is the same. It moved nicely when it was new, still did 3000 miles later, and still does now on a fresh rebuild.
Is there something weird going on with the LTX models? This is just my perception ... but of all the posts I've seen about the shocks being super stiff, they mostly seem to be related to the LTX model. Even though the part numbers on the shocks from RTX to LTX are the same, why would the LTX be stiffer?

I def think it all ltx related. I guess when you think about it it is a brand new suspension last year. I got to drive an rtx se last year for about a mile but just sitting on it was much more plush than my ltx se. I haven't heard much complaints on the rtx and zero on the xtx. Hoping shock valving fixes the stiffness but got a feeling the geometry may be a bit odd. Time and snow will tell

Stu, I also heard the rumor that Yamaha engineers set up the suspension for the 2015 sleds and the 2014 sleds suspension was set up by Cat.. Again just something I read on the internet, so I don't know how much water it holds.. I would have to agree, the 2015's seem more plush to the 2014's.

Well I've actually rode 2 2014 xf7000 snopro which are identical to my viper ltx se. Both cats had a nicer ride than mine, maybe mine was a bad egg in the suspension department but I've heard from many people that their ltx se was stiff, the xf didn't seem stiff at all to me, if felt exactly like what I'd want in a ride

I can see where the lighter weight guys would complain about the cat SP being stiff but with me on it all suited up around 240# I thought the xf rode like it should. It def wasn't plush like the lxr or standard viper, but it worked very good on small chatter and big bumps it rocked! To me it seems like the valving even in 2014 was different between the viper and 7000, that is unless mine was just a bad egg
