I'm in the market for a new sled. I'm looking at the Apex but I'm confused on what to buy for sure. I ride mostly on roads, trails and lakes, some off trail riding. What's everyone's' opinion the SE or the XTX? I'm sure both of these are great sleds, just looking for some feedback.
Thanks in advance for any help.
Current ride is an 2009 Vector GT.

I have the XTX and think it is the best thing on the snow right now it is very capable of going off in the deep stuff and will run with the best of them on the trail. i do about 90% on trail and about 10% off trail and ride big miles. i have no seat time on the shorty but i did have an 07 gt 121 track before this sled and this sled is hands down way better.

thor452, thanks for the info. I'm leaning towards the XTX but just didn't know if that was the way to go since in use the the shorter track. Did you STUD your track too?

I ride XTX my bud rides SE. SE is more plush ride groomed trail sled but does little else well ....we are even on groomed twistys even tho I ride 144. 128 too short for a rider that does powder, unplowed FRs, stuff where XTX shines. The XTX traditional 2 shock skid and made to be beat no easy rider by a long shot. SE air shocks all around and mono so not so good taking from warm to cold best kept at 1 temp to keep air stable or get used to pump & or bleed. Both great sleds but I need 144 length to take me over lakes, open fields & unplowed FRs all in 7 mile trip for me to groomed trails. I had 136 Attak GT but 144 XTX much better all around sled. For me anything shorter than 136 too short for what I need to do.....my shortie days are over. Also..I have icerippertrack on my XTX for hookup & traction SE has studs.

After doing lots of research I opted for the XTX myself. Just picked up a 2012 non current one a couple days ago. Good luck with your search, sure you will love which ever one you choose

Ranger1, I'm doing the same thing, a 2015 model. I'm ready for some snow. I need to figure out about studding the track though.

I have a 12 XTX and the wife has a 13 Apex (not the SE) didn't want the air shock. We switch back and fourth and I prefer the XTX because of the better ride. Both are awesome sleds. Both are studded with Stud boy studs. We only ride trails in Northern Wi. If your looking for speed results, she is faster on which ever sleds she is on, because of the weight difference. (130 lb)

I've got the 2011 XTX and love it. once set up it handles great. i have it studded down the centre in a 2-4-2 pattern (2 singles then 2-doubles). if you do stud, keep the studs away from the centre of the track because the stud heads will hit the bottom of the front rear shock. i would not run without studs but that's just me.

Thank you for your reply. I'm really leaning towards the XTX myself. I keep hearing the ride is better. I don't want to mess with the air shocks either. I don't think I'll miss the air shocks since I've never had them before. Thanks again for your input.I have a 12 XTX and the wife has a 13 Apex (not the SE) didn't want the air shock. Thanks for your input. What kind of changes to you make for your setup, shocks ??? I have studs on my current sled the 09 Vector and I love them. I've heard studding this sled will be a little difficult, but I think I've read enough tips on doing it. Might even look into some tunnel protectors.
