2016 apex
I just switched from 2 stroke to 4 stroke and purchased a 2016 apex sled that sat for 4 years . only has 900km and the gas was changed 2 years ago . what should i get done to it before riding?

That thing isn't even broken in yet. Pump out any 2 yr old gas, fill er up with fresh gas and go RIDE!

Probably doesn’t need anything at 900 kms. Might not be a bad idea to syphon out as much fuel as you can but may not be necessary

More seriously, as long as it wasn't damaged or neglected, should be good to go. Although, a quick check of all the vital fluids and overall visual inspection of the mechanicals should only take a short time and certainly can't hurt.

nice score!

make sure fluids are full and add a splash of seafoam to fresh gas to take care of any crud in the injectors from sitting.

be aware that the stock tuner skis will push in the softer snow. make sure that the suspension is set for your weight front and rear as well as making sure toe is set correctly.

otherwise go ride that puppy and come back so we can help you get it set better for your riding style.

It should have updated fox rear shocks with compression and rebound dampening. If it doesn't, get the updated shock and set air pressure for weight and ride.
1.25 lug track and 1.75 lug track have different gearing in chaincase.

The 2016 did not come with the updated Fox shock but Yamaha did offer customers, albeit Apex owners and not Vector owners, the free upgrade kit but with this one only having 900km, what are the chance the original owner did the upgrade. :dunno:

Only way to know is to check: Upgraded shock on top, stock shock on the bottom:

As for the updated Fox shock, Port Yamaha still has them on sale on their eBay store as I recently purchased one.

Your machine isn't as old as this one I mention but still sitting isn't good. I just got a 2010 vector ltx with 330 miles on it. Grease in bearings was hard. I put in new bearings since just greasing is work too. Antifreeze wasn't at peak so I dumped most out and replaced with 60/40 plus some Water Wetter. Grease in Driveshaft and jackshaft bearings was dried out as well.
So to the original poster. Grease all above plus skid well and check antifreeze protection. Plus look for mice and rat damage around inside wiring etc. I found some under the seat at the gas tank. I was lucky only there.

I'd do an engine and chaincase oil change. Oil does degrade over time as the additives separate from the base oil while sitting. Coolant does have an age limit too. Grease may have dried out too.
