When riding over rough trails with good size bumps, is anyone hearing a rubbing noise from the front of the suspension? Seems to do it when the front part of the suspension is compressed. Only does it over bumpy trails at slow speeds. Sounds like track is rubbing on something.

I have not adjusted anything on the sled, its all stock settings. Track is not loose. On groomed trails, there is no noise at all and is absolutely perfect. Ive got 660 miles on it.

Anyone else hearing this noise?

Yes i have the same sled and the same sound and i can sea were its come from and this morning i increase the hardnes on the front shock in the track to sea if it will help

There is a long thread about this issue on the xtx-le. You will likely have to lower your skid to the lower front holes and middle at the rear. 16's have slightly different geometry I xtx from previous years

I all ready did that and it steel do rubbing but its a different problem
I think when your skid is not drop on the lower hole the front of the skid rubb the sproket .but now its something else
Am not sure but i am investigating

Problem has been resolved. My Yamaha dealer contacted Yamaha and immediately knew the solution. Yamaha wants the suspension mounted in the bottom holes on both the front and rear mounts. Rode it 500 miles this weekend and noise is gone! I also had the dealer tighten the limiter strap one hole and the sled handles like a dream. Best handeling sled I've ever rode!! Love it!!

Bottom hole in rear not in the middle hole ??
I am gona try to tighten the limiter strap thank you

When my dealer called Yamaha to ask what the solution was, the Yamaha rep immediately knew of the issue and said Yamaha wants the suspension in the bottom holes in both the front and rear. So mine is in the very bottom holes on both and 530 miles haven't heard the noise since!

When riding through powder, I am constantly hearing a track rubbing sound. The only time my track is "loose" is when it is cycling through travel. Are there any solutions or something I just have to accept?

Hows the track tension Joe? Mine has never made a track noise and I'm in the highest/upper mount holes for the skid.

I have the same sled that I bought this year as a leftover, and I have the rubbing-grinding noise, just as described in this thread. My dealer says that according to Yamaha the skid should be in the upper hole, and has basically told me that if I want it in the lower hole, he will charge me labor to do it. Who is your dealer? I may need to take my sled to them to get the cost of lowering the skid covered by Yamaha!

I am in the upper holes as well. I just replaced the FLOAT 2 in the skid with a MTX coil shock due to excessive sagging. Tension looked to be good at the beginning of the season, but when I head back up to Maine, I will check. We leave the snowmobiles in a storage unit for the winter, so unfortunately I don't have easy access while I'm home.

It only affects the 2016 and I would assume the 2017's. They changed the rails a bit from past years, and the front of the skid runs into the drivers. Lowering the skid to the lower front holes and middle rear holes has made it go away for any who have had the issues.

Same boat, I got a leftover and had the same problem. I did it myself because I didn't want to wait for my dealer to do it, so I didn't even ask, but I've got no doubt in my mind they would have did it no charge for me. I might recommend next time finding a different dealer that understands that customer service brings people back.
