2017 sidewinder unknown mods help.

Talked with TD and they offer a reflash for changing parts for 150$ canadian so ill most definitely be sticking with their tune just for the cost savings. Thats a big plus for me. Their customer support has been awesome.

So i have 1 issue that im too inexperienced in sleds to know. I have this bracket/step/thingy that i dont know whats its called and cannot figure out how to get it off to repair it. Here are some photos of it.
Ive drilled the rivets out but it wont slide back far enough to come out of the running board without hitting the top of the tunnel on the inside.

Ok. Thank you. I just didnt want to throw up a bunch of posts all over. And i already had this one going so i thought i might as well post it here.

The stock running boards are trash, if you're going to be riding off trail just put some new running boards on it. CRacing makes some excellent ones.

I would like to do that but unfortunately i spent most of the money i had to just get the sled. So i gotta wait for a couple months before i can afford a new set of running boards. I had about 500 left and i got a bunch of the stuff for the chaincase issues the 17s have so i dont have enough to get a set of running boards for a while.
I was just hoping to get this fixed for the 1 ride or 2 i might get this year if it keeps snowing here finally.

One thing I would highly recommend is to get Cr Racing suspension brackets and ditch that oem bumper. It did not take much to tweak my brackets on my viper. Replaced them with the Cr brackets and threw on a Roge Concepts rear bumper and now I never have to worry about bending my rear tunnel ever again.

Also a good set of running boards. I finally swapped mine out on my viper for the Bmfabrications.com boards. Thats one mod I wish I had done sooner. If it does not have a Roll over valve kit I would also do that. Four Stroke Solutions is the kit you want. Bill is a member here and is absolutely the best to work with!

Im not entirely sure if it has a roll over valve kit. Trying to understand everything thats on that side of the sled. When i get home tonight ill upload some pictures of the sled with all the panels off. I would really like to have some aftermarket boards on it.
And i didnt know the back bumper was the stock on it looked different to me. But maybe thats because of the cut tunnel. It has about 4 inches of the rear tunnel cut off. So everything was relocated forward that much.

Looks like maybe the coolant needs to be topped off with some yamacool

I have a "mountain can" on mine and it is loud but doesn't leave me too deaf since it doesn't have the 2 stroke shriek.

Honestly that is already pretty solid on the upgrades so far and with what you have done. I would do the Barn of Parts intercooler guard when you have the extra cash, I notice it keeps snow out but I wouldn't call it a necessary upgrade.

I run Sly dog attack skis currently but want some powder hound 8"skis, again not a necessary but a good QOL for a couple different reasons.

of course you can go crazy on mods for it but honestly other than a tune and a can, they dont need much to be reliable back country sleds.

I did an ROV delete on mine (after breaking the stock ROV) so the worst of it is that I spill some oil out here and there lol. Probably will do the 4SS in the future when funds allow.

I havent got the barn of parts upgrades done yet but we finally got some snow to go ride and this sled made me feel like a baby as it is.

I chose to wait on doing to upgrades till after i rode it because i didnt want it in the shop the one day this year ill get to ride it. The snow was hero snow and this sled ripped. I finally had to give it to a buddy in my group to really rip it because it was a whole different animal from what im used to.

I did run into some small issues and im trying to figure out whats causing a couple of them. At about 70mph track speed it has a vibration. Would a missing lug cause that vibration?
I need to redo the clutching from where i bought it from. I was only really pulling about 8500 max but usually closer to 8200 depending on how loaded i could get the engine.

The other issue is when my buddy started to really give it the work. It would occasionally backfire when he let off the throttle under hard boost. Im not experienced enough with these sleds to even begin to understand what could be causing that.

And the final issue i noticed on the ride was if i cruised across the basin we were in and then gave it the throttle to climb it would burble for a second before it would hit and almost pull my arms out at the shoulders.

Other than those little issues the sled ran flawlessly and was terrifying for me to really ride.

all the yamaha 4 strokes prefer/run better if you roll onto the throttle over just punch it.

Thats good to know. My old nytro didnt really care because it had to wait for the turbo spool no matter if i punched it or rolled into it. It had like a half second pause at about 5000 as it started to spool the turbo. So riding the sidewinder i rode it the same and wasnt sure if it was being normal or if i was doing something wrong.
