My starter only OCCASIONALLY turns the motor over a few turns. Seems like the bendix disengages as soon as it Engages?? Dealer said "bring it over, we'll look at it". Any ideas?

i did an voltage drop test on the starter while watching the ring gear when trying to start it. starter was turning but flywheel was not on that one and the starter was sliding the bendix out with the solenoid.
