Just about to tear into my new to me srx. New driveshaft coming so ill be doing all my fixes while I'm in there... ill be adding a 240 tune soon enough and although I only drove it for 150km I did do a few lake pulls with it. 129 on the dream meter tells me that its out of gear at that point. So with a tune its gonna hit that point all day long... no ??
now I realize a large gear could in theory make it harder on the top shaft, clutches and belts..... but isn't running out of gear and slightly overdriving where belt are known to grenade?
Figured it i add hp I should add a tooth?.. I'm not a throttle slammer out of every corner, more of an aggressive roll on kinda guy. I ride with 2 other turbo cats and who doesn't want to be first at the end of a lake? Lol
So if you've ran a 22t can u comment on any issues u felt it caused.
Also is there any concern if I install the 200$ dmc or similar gear? Is it actually harder material than the stock one and therfore wear the shaft next time instead of just chewing the bushing...?
Thanks in advance for reading.. cheers.!

The dmc gear isnt hard, it may possibly be harder than the stock bushing but the longer bushing life comes from the length of the bushing, not so much the material.

I run 21/38 for my preference for best all-around fast trail gear where I ride. I can verify 134/135 w 280 tune.

I've GPS'd 126 on a stock geared 19 SRX
(Speedometer69 app)

I ran the 22 top for about 7k miles on my 17 Winder. I was running the stock gears 21/41 on the 240 tune(TD eco trail).. I bumped up to powertrail and ran the 22/41 with that tune.. upper 120's on speedo depending on conditions obviously.. Never GPS it. Trail riding mostly and usually spend most of my time under 120 mph. Only other recording was a 1000 foot run on radar.. 105 mph on snow track(not hard packed).. My plan is to run 22/41 on the 2022 winder. I already have the DMC upper 22 I purchased a month ago or so..

Okay, thanks for the replies. A couple of hours of reading and I found some like it, some go back to stock. I've read some say it calms the sled down abit and allowing for less track spin amd more traction. I can kinda see that when your squashing the flapper.. this thing is already a monster coming off of a 12 apex xtx. I plan to add more air vents around the clutches area and from what I know, my sled is only on its second belt at 7500km and looks good but i will be changing annually regardless amd likely switch to an xs825.
My last 3 motorcycles were all over geared and were much happier with lower gearing so this is the first times I've ever considered going taller.
I haven't found any issues with the brass gear so I figure thats a no brainer. I never really considered the 38 lower gear. New chain for that? Mines already seems pretty far in as far as adj goes... I've read of loose chains hitting the center post and figure a 38 lower would make it worse? The 22 top would help with the post contact and straighten my chain out. Previous owner said it radared at 119 on multiple passes.
Thanks everyone, just need to pull the pin on my shopping cart....lol

22 will help for sure.. Another reason why I like a 22 top.. Need to have some stretch on your chain for a 22 top.. It can be installed with a new chain, as I have done it.. Its very tight though.. You will see less bend in your chain with a 22.

22 is perfect for a boosted sled and has no downside really. Nice not having the larger bow in the chain and the chain hitting the post.

I appreciate it folks. Ordering the 22 dmc gear today then. I'll be tack welding the adj and adding the preferred 16 oz also. Did the rivets nuts, that helps alot. Rov delete done. Copper antisieze on turbo threads. That should sum it up on that side....

Not sure if anyone saw my previous post about cleaning my intercooler out, I literally poured an ounce of motor oil and them foam out of it after 5,000 miles. Rinse it thoroughly with a simple green solution, sooooo gross.

I run the stock 22/50 gearing on my TCAT. For trail riding its a riot and it pulls hard, but you are out of gear at 118-120. So you have look at what your priorities are. I am running the Hurricane 240SS SM tune.

This is all preferences imo.
If you ride aggressive corner to corner and ok to top out at 120 go 24/50 .

21 or 22/41 is a good happy medium for trail and top end

21 22/ 38 will put you in the 130's.

The guys i ride with all mostly all went and prefer 24/50 for trail riding after riding taller gears in the past few season.
