I hear ya on the EPS Apex to the non EPS Apex, but if you haven't ridden a Sidewinder then i really don't think there is any comparison. The steering effort of a well set up Winder is pretty darn close to an Apex with EPS, I totally understand wanting EPS if you have shoulder or elbow issues, but if not, go for the QS3R shocks. You will not regret that decisionJust placed an order for the L-TX GT with EPS. Had a 2011 Apex with EPS and the steering is night and day compared to non-EPS Apex.

Do we know if the power steering unit was developed by Cat or Yamaha? I know Yamaha was first......

$1k off, $299 prep fee, no doc or freight is the best I’ve got so far. Waiting to hear from 2 more. Most of dealers are taking $1k off sleds but they adding freight and preparation- $800 - $1000 , so you pretty much are going to pay msrp .

I have an 18 Sidewinder with 11k miles in 2 seasons of use. So, you can see that I get out and ride. I have been waiting for EPS on this sled for 5 years, and held on to my 11 Apex until 2019 when it went down on a terminal electrical problem 800 miles from home, forcing me to buy the Sidewinder. My elbows ache sometimes at the end of the day depending on snow conditions. My 18 will now be my backup sled, and selling my 08 Apex. I have never found that particular shocks make all that much difference honestly. They groom where I ride almost every night, so shocks don't play a big role in my area. Skis, and carbides play a bigger role as it can get very cold and the snow is frozen in the morning and a bitch to steer until things loosen up.I hear ya on the EPS Apex to the non EPS Apex, but if you haven't ridden a Sidewinder then i really don't think there is any comparison. I hear you loud and clear. I have in the past fractured my neck twice and dislocated my right shoulder 4 times. PS would be nice when you ride 200 mile days. Just wish they gave us the option. Asked the salesman if it was possible to install and he didn't know but I will investigate further

Jonlafon1, you won’t need new tools to work on that new sled now! Cat clutching changing again! Like I have said earlier, probably 1st $300 dollar belt? Wouldn’t surprise me the way things are going......

If the Cat does have a new belt, do you guys think Timken will have a listing for an XS version come December?

Racy - I think Yamaha position going to be: do we retrofit older sleds with a EPS kit or tell them to buy a new sled?

Wait what?! Where do you see that? In the reveal he says Yamaha was first to bring it to ATV and snowmobile. Now being 3lbs lighter with brushless motor. THats it.It's the Yamaha version according to Jaret
Arctic Cat engineer said for the Thundercat it was their unit from SXS/ATV that they calibrated. I tend to believe this is the EPS Yam is using. Nothing more.

Cant see the belt being that much different then the 827? I know that picture shows a funky looking belt, and if that's the belt then I would be very leery..If the Cat does have a new belt, do you guys think Timken will have a listing for an XS version come December?
So to answer the question yes I think they will have a belt to offer.. Guessing of coarse, being "in the family" allows this!
You know, I had to go back and watch the vid again and you are correct. He does not confirm one way or the other. Maybe he will chime in here?Wait what?! Where do you see that?
