My Dad has been running the BOP MPS kit for 10,000 miles. I tried like hell to get him to order an LTX GT with EPS. In the end, he ordered an SRX and an XTX LE with plans on adding MPS to both.
I've ridden his sled several times on groomed trails. I have always been a fan of that kit. Last time out I rode it on whooped out trails in the NEK. I could not believe how twitchy it was compared to my stock sled. It felt like the Doo front end.
If I were buying, and I felt like I needed some form of steering assist, I'd 100% get the LTX or a Thundercat. I still think he is making a mistake, but he is used to the MPS kit, so he won't know what he is missing.

If he is looking for another MPS kit, PM me. I have one off the LTX I sold. It is all polished up and looks sweet. About 3000 miles on it.My Dad has been running the BOP MPS kit for 10,000 miles. Yep and add to that a better Primary clutch,or the older style Nytro/viper/apex primary. And that they also have to get parts on store. And the shitty design they have with the oil tank outside the gear, cant understand why they cant have a seperate oil tank another place then they have now. Lots of space else where to have a seperate oil tank. And Almost everything on this YamaCat is on backorder and all of this is helding me back to buy me a new YamaCatAnybody hear anything on the upper gear bushing and drive shaft bearing issues being fixed? It's the difference if I will buy or not. I know about all the fixes and the success everybody is having, but should we really have to be doing those fixes to brand new sleds as customers?

I experienced harder steering near no steering when the unit fails...then it must be the motor and not the ECU? JoeI found on the Apex with EPS it reverted back to steering like a normal sled. I had an ECU freeze once for about 5 miles and the sled turned like it had no EPS, not harder than normal but noticeable from having EPS.
THIS is what people are missing. It is not ONLY about ease of steering, it is also about reduced chatter through the bars. I heard someone complain about not enough "feedback" through the bars with EPS but I will take the trade off.

That may be with the GSE unit, but I don't believe it is so with the factory unit. No in my experience anyway. Factory unit is also speed sensitive so you dont get "over boosted" steering at higher speeds.I experienced harder steering near no steering when the unit fails...then it must be the motor and not the ECU? This is the first time I’ve ordered a new sled in the spring (L-TX GT). The worst part of this experience is having to wait 8 or 9 months to enjoy something I committed to buying.

Congrats on the new sled order! Nice sled by the way.
You might be pleasantly surprised on the wait. I ordered a new SRX last year and got the call from my dealer that it landed in mid September.

Thanks. I’m not sure it sitting up in my garage will help much, but I guess definitely way better than watching the trails open up and not having it to ride.Congrats on the new sled order! Nice sled by the way.

Had I been ordering a 2022 998, it would have been a Thundercat with Power Steering.
However, I found out that our local Cat dealer is closing their doors this summer. That pretty much leaves one Cat dealer in Vermont, and they are 2 hours away.
I hate seeing dealers closing up shop. It feels like every year we have less shopping options.

Ya we had one close up in Rangeley, ME, or he went in a different direction (clothing accessories... less hassle). There's a few as you know in tax free NH but if its registered in a tax state (ME) then to my knowledge there no way to escape the tax

Are you speaking of Champlain motor sports? I heard they where closing. It wasn't just their snowmobile business that is getting done, it the whole thing. I think boats where their main income.Had I been ordering a 2022 998, it would have been a Thundercat with Power Steering.

I had 2 friends buy 2 T-Cats from them in 2020 and I almost did the same this year. They seemed like good people.
I heard that the owner was tired of the stress of being in business.
I also heard Cat was bummed they where getting out, they had already sold 14 new Cats and their departure leaves a hole for Cat in that part of the state.
Vermont only has 2 Cat dealers now, although there about 10 in New
hampshire....
