4 days in the UP

just got back from our trip to Watersmeet MI. Decent trails, but more to the point;WOW do I love driving this machine. Floats over stutter bumps. With my height only being 5'7" I go from sitting to standing without hunching over with no effort. The first bump stands you up then sled dances through the trail while you easily drive from a standing position elliminating the bouncing your but and lower back in the traditional sitting or hunched over standing position I had on my old ZR 800. Don't miss the power one bit. This has all the power anyone needs unless you drive over 90 alot. I really love the machine. Starts easy, got 17-19mpg, no driving fatigue, no mechanical problems, just awsome expierince. Pics to come . Every intersection, everyone wants to know, Hows the Phazer? Group after group checking it out, stoping me, my wife and friends where so sick of everyone checking it out and me raving about it. It's very eye catching, people just stair and point. Best sled I have ever owned.

I am assuming Watersmeet it in the western UP? I thought the Western part was the only place with even a little snow. How were the conditions out there and how much snow was there when you left? I really wanna go, the Western UP is about a 10 hour drive from where I live. Maybe there will be snow up there next weekend and I can get my buddy to go up there with me.

the trails had 5-12 inchs when we got there on tuesday. We went around Lake Gogebic, up to Bruce Crossing. Another day down into Wisc, Starlake, Boulder Junction. Another day Phelps Conover and Land-O. Hardpack on the main trails, looser on the forestroads and a foot on the paths nobody takes. By friday it was mostly the same, very few people up there. Friday morning it snowed about 3-4 inches really helping the trails with a little fluf. Then it started warming up. Then the weekend people started arriving. It remained good all day friday. We drove home today, but it was warm and misting when we left. I think the weekend trafic through Newyears will annialate the the main trails unless they get more snow. Woods and forestroads should hold on unless it really warms up. But the weekend trafic and wet conditions don't boad well for the short term. Do a snow dance on your fazer

I was there Tuesday to Thursday night and the trails around the lake were good especially 102 to Silver Lake. My Phazer FX was an awesome ride and I also got a million questions and gawkers.

I did notice on the FX the snow build up is a problem. I took about 30 lbs of frozen Ice off the inside of the tunnel every nite. It didn't affect the riding, but I really hated to see the extra weight added on.

It definately is from the melting snow off the exhaust. I really want to cover the hole in the tunnel, but am waiting until someone comes up with the plastic exhaust covers with louvers to help cool the muffler and keep it from melting and confirms no engine or heat damage.

This is the first really poor Yamaha design I have experienced. I would be willing to bet there is a fix soon.
