40T Lower....how will it change my performance?

I went with a 40T lower gear to improve corner to corner. How much will it affect my top end? I thought I read somewhere on TY that if I bring the gear ratio down I might need to add some weight to the primary to keep the RPM's down. Would overdrive be the way to get the top end back up or can I compensate with a aftermarket helix and a different secondary spring. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
