(ball joints & bushings) Exhaust leaking as well, Supposedly my sled was not one of the affected units, HMMMM.....And my seat is cracking both sides, and one of my front body panels has vibrated a hole, and my valve cover has a hole rubbed through it by a hose, and is leaking, yup, y'all have a lot to look forward to....

Hear you loud and clear man!
Mines gone at 3000 miles.
Dealer wanted around 400 dollars to fix my loose steering today ... what a load of crap!
Mr. Yamaha Canada will be getting a phone call from me very soon to let him know just what I think of their QUALITY product ... bearings on the steering post that you cannot grease! (no snow gets in around that area, now does it?)
Yamaha will loose future customers (me, and other phazer owners) if they do not step up and start making things right .There are loads of issues with these sleds and they must be addressed!
They are high maintenance sleds!
I've noticed my machine is a little louder as well lately ...

This is simply a disgrace.......
The 2007 Phazer fx was my first Yamaha since my 1990 Phazer II......
I'm starting to think that it will be my last.

bought with 750 miles.
ride 100 miles link breaks. bring to dealer, get 08 update kit, rad. fan kit, and new sliders.
ride 10 miles after fix... brake light dont work.
ride 80 miles trouble free.
ride maybe another 150 miles or so, suspension front arm bolt falls out. limp to some dudes garage on tug hill, pay him 40 bucks for his time and a bolt and some cob work to get me home. said f it and rode another 90 miles or so.
ride another 40 miles, bolts tiny bit loose, i tighten. shut off sled at tuggers. tuggers is closed. walk back to sled and start it. exhaust broke at manifold. nice and loud.
just got it back from dealer. bolts fixed, new suspension front shaft, new 08 style manifold pipes.
maybe i can get 200 on it without another breakdown.
also noticed i already have front a-arm bushing play.

Sorry to hear, but no surprise. My front end is starting to get sloppy with only 1500 miles. I made it a note to the dealer and Yamaha on my last visit. Not the bushings on mine yet, it's the ball joints and tie rod ends.
I love the sled and just spent many hours fixing issues again before my next ride. Not sure what I am going to do yet, I may take legal action and make them buy it back.
I wrote Yamaha customer service two weeks ago, no response...not even a GFY...

Yes, they are fixing it, but if it keeps breaking, do you really call that a fix? And when one thing is fixed and that fix causes another issue, is that really a fix (example, shim in the clutch fixes the reverse but cause the belt to screech?)
Is it really unreasonable to buy a new machine and expect a couple years of reliability and relatively aggravation free riding? I don't think so.
Man, does Yamaha even care about all the negative publicity they are getting? I have never seen anything criticized to this extent before!

The reason it is being criticized is because Yamaha customers have never seen anything like this before. The other big 3 have customers that are used to poor product and wrenching on their machines. It's a huge problem, but I trust Yamaha will have it sorted out and move forward. Nobody's perfect.
Are the 08's having any problems like this?
