My suggestion of getting a second sled was because for me and I am sure others riding when the riding is good is the most important thing.Obviously we that have issues with our Phazers cant count on them to get that done.So what are you going to do?Sit and mope in the house?Not me.I will do whatever it takes to ride.Also would not make financial sense to sell the thing for a loss and why sell since progress is being made.

Way I see it Yamaha has spent around $2000 on everyones sled that has had issues with labor maybe more.They are in the red with the 07's for sure but still are standing behind them.No not quick enough for all but progress is being made without a doubt.In addition there is many improvements folks here have come up with.I have no doubt my sled is a much better sled than it was last year.Dont you?

To a point ... yes. The sled is better is many ways.
Just shows that the sled did not get "REAL WORLD TESTING" before being sold to the masses.


I would just like to hear that they are standing behind the poor quality put into the front end parts ... that's my frustration.

With everything i've made for the sled and the fabrications I've welded up, I'm pretty satisfied with the 'reliability' and 'durability' of my Phazer. However, I know I've voided the extended warrenty on multiple parts for my 'fixes'.

Trust me, it's not for everyone but with a little cleaverness, these sleds can become what they were promised to be

My point exactly ... what they were promised to be.

We should not have to fabricate and make things right on a new sled! Isn't this what the manufacturers were supposed to deliver to the customer in the first place?

It's a great sled to ride ... but the quality ???

I'm not advocating each person re-engineer their sled nor am I spending an exorbinant amount of money fixing known issues.

All I'm saying is that when I'm ready to ride, my sled will be also and it will not leave me stranded.

Mines gone at 3000 miles.

Dealer wanted around 400 dollars to fix my loose steering today ... what a load of crap!
Mr. Yamaha Canada will be getting a phone call from me very soon to let him know just what I think of their QUALITY product ... bearings on the steering post that you cannot grease! (no snow gets in around that area, now does it?)

Yamaha will loose future customers (me, and other phazer owners) if they do not step up and start making things right .There are loads of issues with these sleds and they must be addressed!

They are high maintenance sleds!



I've noticed my machine is a little louder as well lately ...

Hear is how you fix the loose steering SIR. Take your steering apart in the front where there is that splined shaft Take them out. Cut up a pop can and shove it in with the shaft Make sure it gets in the splines. or it wont work. Tightens it right up.

XC brings up a idea.Go look at the sleds the I-500 team ran Nytros.I am sure none of us "tests" our sleds as hard as they do but look what they did to make them last.It could be that our sled is so fun we are getting closer to what those racers do in a weekend.Just takes us longer.

Yeah, and when the outer spline fails and you crash and die, we'll know you where actually stupid enough to tighten up steering with a pop can!

Am I reading this correctly? ... Pop Cans? ... You are giving this valuable information to the wrong people ... YAMAHA needs to know these things to make it right for next years production sleds!

Maybe there are no pop cans in Japan?

Once again ... we the consumer have to add aftermarket parts (pop cans ... ha ha!) so we will void our warranty to get a tight steering!

This thread just keeps getting better!

Maybe after the warranty expires (doubt if I'll still own the sled then) I'll try this fix ... until then .... PLEASE ADDRESS THIS ISSUE YAMAHA!!!

I can get my sled as ready as I am to ride, but what happens when I can't steer 20 miles down the trail??????

I am going up to Stony River (village) to watch a ball game tonight, just had to add oil for the first time other than at the oil change.

Side panel was frozen in, had to beat it off the machine.
I am not sure how much longer these plastic panels are going to last at thos rate.

But I guess some folks are just like Yamaha... they just don't believe it....

This is good, oh man is this ever good, I can't believe what I've just read.
You should definitely be working for Yamaha man. On another thread you're all over me because I criticize Yamaha for puttin' out ...errr.... troublesome sleds. And, now this great innovation, you sure you don't work at Yammie already? Maybe that muffler in the tunnel was your idea as well! Thanks for the laugh.
