for years guys have been cutting the boss off of the center of the just to get the yamaha secoundary to shift lower thus shiftting the primary higher this is the same thing only simpler to do for the avrage person and id it did not work why are just about all affter market helx,s made with this o/d feture all read made in to them. just to gain a few mm in belt hight = more jack shaft speed= more track speed.

Ok, just got back from Quebec and did the mod to both my '05 RX-1 and my Dad's '03. His now tachs out at around 10,500, but mine sitll does not get above 10,100. Consequently I gained no top end at all with the washers and OSO spring. I still have stock jetting in there, so that may be next, but so far nothing...

From what I understand you only need use the washers with Yamha stock helix's. Most all aftermarket, I know dalton for sure, Machine the helix's to give full shift out. One way to tell is take of the secondary spring and put the helix back on and manualy move the sheaves as they would when running. You will see what is happening.

Tried the lock washers last weekend, went to Phillips WI on Solberg lake out ran 3 F7s,2 Apex's,1 Viper S,and to 600 Cats. ran alone with and without the washers, pulled about 500 less rpm with washers and still wooped up on everyone, by about 3 or 4 mph

Will there be any difference with the washer added to a box stock RX1? I see some of you have different helix's and or springs.

The difference between washers and no washers wasn't earth shattering for sure BUT as Black John and Bob Miller both said......it was easy. My 03 pulls like a moose (got the O-S-O in the primary too) and on what appeared to be a flat-groomed trail I was able to get to 10,500 easily and 117 mph on the dream meter. It turned out that what seemed flat had me airborne about 3" or 4" half the time so I think if it had stayed on the snow longer it would have gone faster.

Someone mentioned that I should check the alignment on my clutches because of the RPMs only getting to 10,100. So I looked and found a pretty easy method to check it.
