Other than change oil and filter and adjust chain tension, which I think I can do, what is done. I'm trying to figure out if its worth the hassle of getting a trailer and having my sled gone for maybe a week. By no means am I great at working on my sled but I'm capable of some basics.

Advice?

Just had mine done at the dealer. Changed the chaincase fluid as well. Adjust and align track and make sure skis are aligned, toe out. Visual of everything. Had it back the next day $200.00 for everything. More for piece of mind and keeping the warranty intact so that there are no questions if a problem arises. Will do mine own maintenance from here on in.

I too am coming up to the 500 mile mark and would like to do my own service. My intentions are to change the oil and filter. Still debating between amsoil 0w-40 or mobil 1 0w-30. Decided to use a wix filter. I plan on checking the track tension. Checking the runners for wear along with the wear rods. Greesing all the zerts. Just as preventive maintance everytime I have gone out I have applied a little transmission oil to the ball joints. Anything I am missing?

Why not use the new yamaha full synthetic oil? Changing oil is a breeze, if you change the filter drain the crankase and oil tank you will need around 3.5 quarts.

I tightened up my chain and track tonight. I'd do it before 500 miles on a new sled. My track was stretched a lot as was the chain. 1/4 turn back from finger tight. Then tighten it up with a 14mm and 12mm. Track is 3/4" and 11/16" wrench along with a 14mm ratchet deep socket with an extension. I needed 2 full turns to bring the knobs to the bottom of my rails with the track naturally hanging. I grease the sled every week but sometimes I should do it more. I need new slides now. The ridge is worn away just above the bend in the XTX skid. 598 KM or 375 miles. Full tank gets me 85 miles or 136km out on the river ratting around.

just did mine last week oil and filter, chain case oil, tenson,... nothing to it except broke one or thoes stupid quick fasteners (tip use 2 small flat head screwdrivers) used the new 0w40 full symthetic yamalube and it was - 32 this weekend and started up first turn and fast dads semi synthetic in the apex took 3 turns of the key and turned over slow (has new battery) so i am impressed with the oil i say use yamalube
