You all use 87 octane. I use 93 in everything I own from my lawn mower to motorcycle to car. The 93 has more additives to keep your fuel injectors clean and runs cooler. You also get better fuel economy with 93. I understand that the compression ratio doesn't warent it but why wouldn't you spend the extra dollar to fill up on a $10,000 plus dollar machine? If the sled really will run stronger on 87 I guess I will try it.
Look at your owner's manual and see what it says. This topic has been discussed. No need to run premium unless you are running boost.

I didn't get a owners manual with the sled. I purchased it used and the person I bought it from could not find it.

On the dyno, 93 made the Apex lose Power... You figure it out...

Run 87, anything higher is a waste and can cause issues like extreme cold starting problems since 93 is slower to burn. They designed this motor to use this fuel.

Gotta love the four-stokes, no more of that 93 octane expensive fuel

what about 91 in the first tank, runs coller during the hot break in???
87 all the way.... (unless you stop at a UP gas station that only sells the expensive stuff)
I thought I read on this site, the higher octane gas will cause sticky piston rings over time because of the cooler combustion temps.

This whole "burns cooler" thing is a big lie. True, it will release less heat where it is supposed to, but because it burns slower, it will ADD EXTRA HEAT to..... the valves and the exhaust pipe. BAD THING.
Additives to clean your injectors... LMAO. Just keep reading the stickers on the gas pumps. High octane fuel burns DIRTY because it doesn't burn as much. The gas pump stickers that say its cleaner are just an added gimmick for SUCKERS to get them to pay more for what really amounts to LESS.
Better fuel economy....? Nope. Quite the opposite. Every little bit of gas that doesn't burn in the combustion chamber is WASTED.

Well, I'm not trying to be harsh, but 10 grand, 100,000 grand, or 50 bucks, motors are motors. They all need some basics. I run 87 or the cheapest stuff I can find, and they run fantastic. They are just mechanical devices made to specific tolerances, requiring basic ingredients to run, so if they run good on 87..so be it. Plus lower octane lights faster and in some cases can make a richer mixture as it burns more completely when it's cold out..it atomizes better, and burns quickly..sometimes leading to pre ignition..thus the need for higher octane..if necessary. It's what gets burned in the combustion chamber that matters, not what it says on the pump.
