87 octane + 9-1 pistons + 12# boost on my rx1...

Ouuuucccchh - that hurts. Hope you have not done harm to the valves and cylinder walls.

I'd bet money that with that compression like it is there will be at least one cylinder that is toast, Ken.

You roll the dice every time you buy 93. I read in Car and Drive about Michigan pump gas, I recall out of something like 1500 samples of "high test" tested by the bureau of weights and measures 180 came back substandard, ie 85-87. That means you will get cheated 10% of the time, and if you try to get by on 93 with boost you will probably get 87 sometimes. So if you cant run at least a mix or race or avgas witth what pump gas you buy, you must tune for 87 that means 10.5/1 A/F low low boost, low compression. Then switch to high boost when you know you have at least some good race gas or av gas to add to your tank.

I hear ya Jim - I fueled up last year(Rage) at a snowmobile shop on Tug Hill - the octane rating was on a piece of cardboard taped to the glass on the pump, most of these little shops/bars, no one is checking what's in the tank

By the way, it had no problem at all with 91 octane...

I just wanted to check if 87 would edge it...

It did not... :die

Time to remove head and check what damaged..... now that is sad.

So how much is that going to set you back??? Did it toast the Cly??
