:o| So I started reassmbling my sled and got then engine in its mounts and was getting creative getting the exhaust flex pipes, and new gasket in there, if you have done this you know its a pain in the azz because there is little to no room in there and the angle of the engine doesn't let you easily slide the gasket in between the head and the flex sections....sooooo.... I put in two exhaust studs real loose on the engine on one exhaust flex section, then I moved the engine up so I could lay in the other 4 flex sections, upon rotating the engine the bolts loosly threaded in the head popped off and I completely lost one exhaust stud. :o|

I have looked for over 2 hours for the bolt, and I cannot find it. Makes me mad I have been so diligent with this thing and meticlous that I wanted it perfect when done, and now I have a bolt missing somewhere. I wouldn't care if it was outside of the sled and order a new one but I don't know if its inside the sled somewhere.

I checked in the exhaust valves, in the insulated tray that the flex sections sit in, behind the chaincase, down the entire side of the front heat exchanger, on th tunnel, in the the area around the muffler, on the floor, on the workbench, in the pile of parts I have laying around. Nothing. the 8th wonder of the world.... :die

Try moving the sled around, on it's sides, lift up the front, lift up the back, shake and do the hokey pokey a few times. Maybe the missing bolt will reappear.

Oh yeah, I forgot, turn yourself about... LaLaLa Cause that's what it's all about.

Are you absolutely sure the bolt did not go in engine? I think I would pull the engine and get very serious about where the stud is.

Yep absolutly sure, I removed the plugs and used my magnet finder in there, and I also looked in all exhaust ports. Its IN the engine just may be somewhere else.... dang nab it...

you mean the engine bay right?

if it is in the motor that could get really expensive.

Found it!!!!!!!!!

Grimm you are the man, I have no idea why I brain farted and didn't think to toss the sled around, I flipped it up on its side, heard it move and used my magnet to retrive it from the lower front part of the front heat exchanger!

Thanks so much I'm soooooo happy now!!!!

Glad you found it :-) Been there done that, it doesn't feel any good when bolts go missing on assembly.

I was going to mention....its down there! Because that happend to me 2....sucked getting it out. Because like me, you probably have 90% done bolting and hooking up the motor at that point. :o| Great to see you found it. Thinking its in the motor will make you loose sleep. :tg:

Yes I am happy, now to finish it up and get to work on the driveshaft and track change. tired of worrying about it and want to get to gettn'

I can't tell you the number of times my chubby fingers dropped bolts, washers, carbuerator components under the engine bay on my SRX. There were times I would spend hours tipping the sled back and forth, hoping it would at least fall into a place where I could see it and get a magnet in there. Glad you found it and now you will know the procedure for next time.
