Just had bot sleds in the air and checked the play in the a-arms. Is a little play in the bushings normal, or should there be no play? Mine move 1-2mm.

the stock nylon bushings are toast within 2-3000 miles when you have no grease zerks

get oilite ones from ulmer or straight from yamaha and they will last a long time. dont wait to long you are causing damage to the bulkhead where they ride. the holes will egg out and then you have some serious expense on your hands.

Rebuilding my 06 Mtn front end,( A arms bent ) going with 2010 A arms with zerk fittings at bulkhead end of upper and lower arms, Also ordered 2010 lower A arm to bulkhead mounting bolts they have a zerk in hex head end of bolt.( Did Yamaha see a issue here ? ) Just need to come up with a lock tab to stop bolt rotation. Should add more life to bushings.

I just changed the originals on my 03 RX1 with 4500 miles on them and no zerks, they looked like new but I changed them anyways. There is a little front to back play in my A Arms on my RX1 (before and after I changed the bushings) and my 06 Apex with 1500 miles also has the same amount of play..

When you install new Oilites make up a compressor using a threaded rod of 3/8 in or 1/2 in large fender washers and nuts. Compress them into the arms bulk head, spindles. Don't bang them they'll break.
Get them started straight and you'll be good to go.

Put in the blukhead saver, that way it will lock the bolts from spinning and it's added protection. Very easy install to boot.
