I replaced the bushings in my apex and was wondering when I tighten the outside bolts that go through a arms and spindle how tight do I put them? If I tighten them all the way the a arm does not move but if I back it off a little everything moves freely. Or is something else wrong?

Do you have the plastic washer on each side?

I dont think there is a plastic washer there. This is on the spindle side I think the plastic washers are on bulkhead side. There are washers that go in between the a arm and spindle.
The oilites will make the arms hard to move at first. If the weight of the sled won't move them then something is a miss. Might have a bushing in the wrong place or a steel washer.

I think the arms have the "dish" clear bushings at each end of arms I am pretty sure I have 8 of them. I have mine apart waiting for my oil lite from partzilla. I'll have to look but I am guessing the schematic of the arms on the Yamaha site will tell you if there are ones st each end.

Are the clear bushings only on bulhead side of arm? I dont think they are on spindle side. So I should just tighten up bolt and it should free up with some weight on it?

Yes, you are correct. the spindles have steel bushings that go inside of the bushings, and then steel washers go on the outside of spindles between spindle and A arm. I have allways just tighten the bolts and nuts up. The pivet point is the steel bushings inside of the spindlesAre the clear bushings only on bulhead side of arm? I dont think they are on spindle side. So I should just tighten up bolt and it should free up with some weight on it?

There should not be a washer between the spindle and the a-arm. The metal collar (Collar 90387-12N54-00) that goes through the spindle bushings get clamped between the a-arms and the spindle bushings rotate on the sleeve. If it is too tight check the ends of the collar to see if they are mushroomed at all or if there is an indent where it is clamped in the a-arm. If this is the case the you would probably require new collars

I just did mine last night and there are no plastic or steel washers upper or lower. Ulmer has a torque rating for the nuts, I don't have the sheet with me but I think I was around 27 ft/lbs on upper and 47 ft/lbs on lower. You should confirm or call Ulmer Racing they're very helpful.

I did mine recently and was wondering the same thing. I just tightened mine up nice and tight and everything moved freely when I was done but am surprised they dont use castle nuts with cotter pins for safety sake. The nut is somewhat of an interferance thread on the end but not enough to prevent them from coming loose IMO.
