As I am sure most of you know the northeast doesnt have any snow, but I have a trip planned in 3 weeks to Maine and I wanted to get another 5 or 6 mph out of my sled on the top end. But also without loosing on the bottom. I was thinking of gearing, but what gearing changes should I make top or bottom? Up or down? Other ideas? Thanks.

I don't think gearing is your answer. Gearing higher will only make the sled lazier down low as the Vector is almost over geared stock. Besides adding nitrous, turbo, or a supercharger you won't see a 5-6 mph gain unfortunately. Just my .02!
On the cheap side, there is slight HP gain with the CR10EK plugs, and folks are seeing faster speeds on the lake. On the expensive side (relative) is the Expert X skid... I finally got out mine today, that track is running silly lose, very fast... Unreal smooth in bumps.

SRX - I've seen posts where your clutch kits will add top end?? How do they affect the bottom end/engagement?
I asked you this on another thread and didn't hear back from you.

undecided, didn't see you responded to the other post until just now!
None of our clutch kits will gain top end over stock as the stock weights are actually a great all out top end weight. They will get you from point A to point B quicker. I think PRO116 saw a 5-6 mph gain on the asphalt this summer with our Stage 3 kit compared to stock, but that all comes from acceleration increase, not an actual top end gain.
Stage 1 kit can be dialed to stock engagement, but normally it's sent with a spring that engages at about 4000 rpm. This kit smooths the low end acceleration and improves the backshift. I think I've only sold 3-4 of these in 2 seasons now.
Stage 2 kit is just more adjustable with slightly increased corner to corner acceleration, but again with higher than stock engagement and slighlty higher cruising rpm. I believe I've only sold 3-4 of these in 2 seasons as well.
Stage 3 kit is stock engagement with increased acceleration and easier low speed driving with great backshift. This kit is the best and the majority of what we sell.

the vector's are over geared you will gain a couple mph on a wide open run gearing down 1tooth on the top. There is no way possibale for a stock vector even with monor mods going to top out the stock gearing.I recommend gearing down 1 tooth and clutching.

What size gear is currently on the top? I have no idea as this sled has only 200 miles on it.
22-38 is stock

Do you run those plugs are they hotter? Are they safe to run?bjowett said:On the cheap side, there is slight HP gain with the CR10EK plugs, and folks are seeing faster speeds on the lake. They run cooler.I run them also.Yes they are safer to run than the stock plugs because of the cooler range.

OK talked to the dealer and now I am confused more than ever. THey looked it up a 21 tooth and it seems to be the same gear the Nytro uses. OK, but then why is it that when one of the Mags did a test on it they said it was 2mph on the top slower? Any ideas?

Because the Nytro uses a 40 bottom gear to go along with the 21 top.
