I am replacing the blown up engine in my 240 MCX RX1, can I (or should I) re-use the 3 stock head gaskets, get new ones, or does someone make a one piece shim? Can someone recommend a company that makes an air fuel gauge and oxy sensor? I got a great deal on a brand new crate engine (thanks Mr. Sled!). I have the turbo installation manual, got it from MCX, and I cant wait to tear into it and go sledding.

With three head gaskets the compression ratio should have been low enough to rule out detonation so what caused the engine to blow up anyway?

Yrs ago, we used to stack 3 headgaskets without much trouble. It was before head shims were out. Compression ratio was just over 9 to 1. Then came along 10 to 1 pistons, then came the shim. Still have to use a headgasket & take it apart, there is 3 layers to it. I used to have gaskets stacked, worked okay for 3500kms. I upgraded the engine, went with 9 to 1's & stock gasket. Image your trying to keep costs down, would be okay with a shim. Most shims are alumium, the propane guys are using a stainless shim.
