A buddy of mine just bought a Phazer FX..

I got to ride it twice the last 2 days..

PLUS's: I think it could be the Best riding sled on the planet... It feel very flickable when airborn.. In the rough this sled would be impossible to beat! The riding position is the most comfortable yet..

LOWS:... Not enough power.... Very slow compared to my apex.. No wind protection and handwarmers work as bad as the apex! High amount of ski lift (im sure it can be adjusted out with more ski pressure)

After riding my sled, his comments were... If we could get the apex motor in my phazer we would have the ultamite sled..

i think the wing protection is much better on the phaser compared to my rtx from last year, and my hand grips get so hot that i have to turn them down, way better than the apex

I've ridden the Phazer at -20*F temps and didn't think it was any colder than the Apexes that were in our group and also had to turn the handwarmers down (had them about 3/4 of the way up the scale). Mine is also not tippy in the corners, but I am not running stock skis so it could be a characteristic of the skis also. The Phazer is an 80 hp sled and you have to remember that. It is pretty snappy and fast when you think of it as being only 80hp. In the trails or ditches there's not much that will keep up with it in the rough stuff or tight & twisty turns the way ours is setup.

Unlike the Apex where the handlebars limit the amount of windshield, you can put a seriously large windshield on the Phazer for those cold days as the windshield moves with the handlebars.

I know some have already commented, but why would you compare this sled's power to your Apex? V8 versus inline 4! They're two different sleds folks........no comparison is justified.

Also, you're buddy should have his handwarmers checked. The Phazer has some of the hottest warmers ever put on a Yami.

I was riding tonight for 4 hours at -22 F and my handlebar warmers suck. They take too long to get warm, they aren't warm enough at that temperature in the first place, and they cool down so fast and take too long to warm up again after shutting the sled down for 5 minutes and starting it up again. My hands are fully exposed to direct wind on the Mtn Lite with the medium windscreen on, i'm sure they would feel a lot warmer with the large windscreen or some hand guards...but I still think they could handle more voltage and get warmer faster.

I can't understand how some of you guys can go riding at -22??!! That is just too damn cold for anything I can think of. My hat is off to you. Call me a wimp , but at -22
I am not even thinking about going outside, let alone riding.

Dont get all offensive..

this is simply a review from a Apex owner... I really think its the best riding sled out there... ONce they have the 3 cyl in it, it will be AWSOME..

When you go from 150hp to a 80hp sled you really notice the HP difference..

As far as being cold..... IT doesnt help the sled has a very tiny windshield..(BUT HEY, THATS WHY THEY MAKE BIGGER ONES)... But the sled should come without one to begin with IMO..

We put some Guantlets on the Phazer and the cold hand problem was gone... (could have alot to do with the small windshield again)

hehehe, the coldest I have ridden this year with my phazer was 6 hours at -40. At those temps, the T.O.R.S. and low oil pressure sensor like to engage. LOL

I really hope you were just using it for transportation at that point lol. Cause riding for fun in that cold... well it wouldn't be doesn't seem like.

The handguards help tremendously. I don't know why the mt. lites don't come with them standard. Same with hooks. Kinda stupid.

Welter what there trying to say is the phazer is a 80hp sled it's not ment to be a muscle sled it's an entry level sled or a sled to have fun on.
All these people are saying it's too slow.Well go drive any other 80hp sled and you would think the same thing. You are over looking what it's intended for.

I had a chance to try the Phazer out a couple of weeks ago at a demo and I found it to be a very responsive sled in the trails but as others have said not enough power in the open after coming off of a RX-1. I really like how you can go from a seat position to a stand position very easily. I am 6' tall and it is a struggle on the RX-1 to do that. I also found the hand warmer to be very hot now we were not going very fast for tooo long but still they were too hot. The Phazer will make a great sled for my son!!!

Well said, I just want to add that this is not a sled you can jump on and make judgement. I have an Apex GT and the Phazer FX and the more I ride the Phazer the more I love it (1,200 km now). Lately my Apex is collecting dust because when I go to the garage to pick a weapon I keep gravitating to the Phazer ! It is so much fun to ride ! Ya, the Apex is a rocket but the times I get to wind it out on a ride are marginal compared to the grin factor the Phazer provides. Hey, maybe I am just getting old but when I get on the Apex and start going 100mph ++ in the ditch or a rail-bed I can't help but start to wonder what a mess there will be when I eat it big at those speeds (deer, squared off drift, etc..) you know the deal.

If I had to chose one sled it would be the Phazer 100%, once I put on the FreeRide track and Ulmer clutch kit it would beat my Apex by a sled length to 60mph and 90% of the time at that point it is time to setup for the corner. I am getting all jazzed just writing about it, gotta go ride the Phizer, cya !

P.S. I bought it for my 14yr old son and now we have to arm wrestle for it and he is getting stronger every day :(
