I have a 6 degree key in mine. I do not have a lot of testing yet with this setup but after this weekend I will know. I know that DynoRay sets up the power commanders at 3-4 degrees advance all the way to about 10,500 then from 10,500 to 11,200 it creeps from 3-4 all the way to 9 degrees. I think that his setup is good for about 9hp with fuel and ignition. I ran the 4 degree key last year and it ripped at 11,000. With just a key you also do not need to run anything but 87. I will give an update on Monday on how it went.

Charged Rtx,So you ran 4 degree last year...and it is a good HP increase trough the power band and top?
I should be safe for how much degree before jumping to 92 octane?
Keep me post on that 6 degree

timing key
Where did you get the 6 degree key? I'm assuming you can run the 6 degree key with a pipe, air box mod, 10EK plugs a PC III without touching the head and get around 10h.p. maybe a litle more?

9 degrees? I would not think you would be running in a long run with that much timing.... 12 degrees is used in the Yamaha race boxes for 500-660ft?

I used a hauck 4 degree key and filed it to get the 6 degrees. I did not pull the 9 degrees out of thin air. That is what Dyno Ray advances his to at 11,200. He knows more about these motors than anyone on this site guaranteed. Don't forget the Apex ECU pulls back timing a lot as the rpms go up. You certainly could not run an RX with 9 degrees because it does not pull the timing back like the Apex. I am running a split head gasket and the 6 degree key with 87 octane and it runs great. As far as HP you can get 8-9 with the PC111 and ignition. So I would guess 3 with the PC111, 4 with key, 2 plugs, 3 airbox. 12? I will be doing some more testing and racing next weekend after opening my airbox some more I will post results.
