Hello all

I hit a rock this year and bent up my front a-arms and spindle/housing.
I have been looking at aftermarket front suspension stuff from mountain performance but they dont have anything in stock and wont until this fall.
I really need to get this sled back toghether and stored so I can use my garage for the bike a what not.

Could someone post some links to websites with a good front suspension for the rx1 mountain.

This would be very helpful and thank you for this site.

Hey ty bdm... it looks pretty beefy have you read any testimonials about it?

Have you heard how they perform on trails because that is a huge concern for me. I wonder how they corner and if they can hold up to rough trails?

Actually I have not heard much about them. Most of the talk around here is about the rear suspensions. I am also not sure about trail manners either.

I am a little concerned that they might be TOO strong. If/when I hit a stump I want the arms to bend without damaging the bulkhead. My guess is that the Timbersled ones are not going to bend too easily.

Try sending a PM to Rod (Powder Nomad). He has some on his RX-1mtn. They cornered better than my MPI's. I don't run the sway bar though and think he was (not sure though).

Johneo, Hartman Inc. also has a light weight A-arm kit which I believe is a Holz Racing Products 41" wide kit (as far as I know Holz no longer makes/sells Yamaha stuff).

Holz makes some good stuff if you want a 2" wider front end than stock kit from Hartman Inc. To confirm if they have any available go to www.hartmaninc.com

By the way; I have had my MPI kit since '04/'05 season. My RX-1mtn has had several rock encounters and two "Supercharged Sport Logging" events. Once two seasons ago(see attachment) and again this season that actually snapped the tree off without me stopping. My MPI arms are still straight with no sign of bulkhead or front suspension damage.

blgs, I love that picture; but, the resolution is not high enough to make out the look on your face, which is really the most important part....

smile? smirk? grimace? scowl?

It was none of the above. It what was more like a "sheepish grin". We (me geno and another guy) were all amazed at how far the tree folded over and the Yammi had no damaged except for the smoke colored plastic fin the mtns had over the skis to keep snow spay down.

The look on my face during the picture wasn't near as pricless as the two way radio conversation. Geno was having TORS probs on his APEX mtn so I took up the rear as Lester took the lead. The RX-1 was newly boosted so I was watching the gauges rather than where to go (hence "Super Charged Sport Logging").

Anyhooooo... I pull out my two way and wait knowing they would notice me missing. Two minutes later....

Geno: Jim, where you at?

Me: We'll I'm about 50 yards from where we left.

Geno: You got problems now?

Me: Yeah I guess you could say that. My sled is currently park on a big a$$ tree.

Geno: No Sh!t? Is anything broken?

Me: Yes and No.

Geno: You want us to come back?

Me; Yeah it's going to take all three of us get my sled outa there; and make sure you got a camera 'cause this is priceless. LOL

I have mpi a-arms on my sled. they have performed not too badly but the cost to replace just one bent arm is the same price as buying a complete kit for the whole side. That sure didn't impress me when I called to order a replacement arm. If you do bend an a-arm the bolts that hold them in are going to be bent as well and they are a bit-- to get out.

I am going to replace the front end with the timbersled product because you can purchase the replacement parts seprately at reasonable prices. Its no fun when you bend or break something but you can bet your life that its gonna happen.

i have had the same problem as Jabber with the MPI arms, bent the bolts in the spindles on both sides. Finally went back to stock, not the lightest, but they have held up well.
